Hope you’re doing ok! Now after almost 7 months of receiving the admission offer, I just realized that I almost know nothing about Durham (Well except for shooters lol). I have been doing almost everything and reading anything I can get my hands on. I read about courses, concentrations, clubs, professors, and campus and realized I should really take it easy there. I started spending more time with people I know to whom I am going to have to say goodbye soon. I even started taking it easy at work (The fun part!) and got already prepared to move to Durham. So, after all of that, I think maybe it’s the time to explore the little town more before traveling.
That said, the facebook group doesn’t include all people (It’s meant for a specific class only) and the admitted applicants thread talks mostly about admission stuff. That is why I thought we could have this place for any questions or discussions we might have about Durham. Admitted applicants, current students, and waitlist folks are all welcome here to bring anything to the table.
So I’ll start with some food for thought. A few questions that I think people familiar with Durham can answer
- Do you know any apartments in Durham with rents that include all utilities? Some utilities maybe? - Apart from Shooters, what are some other good places you know that people here should visit? - What are some special sport events in Durham/Raleigh/Chapel Hill someone should attend (NASCAR, sport-fishing tournaments… etc)? - If anyone is buying a car when moving to Durham, is it any cheaper there than, say, 300-500 miles around Durham?
Would love to see more people discuss general things here and help pass time until we travel. A little piece of information from each one can probably help us write a booklet about Durham. Let’s see it!
A note to current students: Where have you gone? Please come back! :kiss

Durham Bulls is definitely a must. The Durham Bulls Athletic Park or DBAP as it is know around the Triangle is one of the premier minor league baseball stadiums in the country. It even has its own brewery.
Durham Performing Arts Center or DPAC also has a great lineup of shows and music events that roll through town regularly.
The Eno River park is also pretty close by in Durham and is great for getting outdoors. They have a festival every year right around July 4th.
Lots of other cool things right down the road in Chapel and Raleigh too.
