This according to me is the Idiom
Like X, Y

A) Like the rush at Mecca during Eid
This compares the rush to the Golden Temple. This might have been a possibility if the sentence was Like the rush at Mecca during Eid , the rush at
B) As the rush at Mecca during Eid does
This is a wrong construction, and also As is paired with So in most cases.

C) Like the rush at Mecca during Eid does
Similar to A and
D) Like Mecca during Eid
This is the correct usage of the idiom Like X , Y correctly comparing two places Mecca and Golden Temple and events to events.

E) As Mecca during Eid
Similar to B.

A) Like the rush at Mecca during Eid :- Incorrect, wrong comparison - rush is compared with golden temple
B) As the rush at Mecca during Eid does :- Same as above
C) Like the rush at Mecca during Eid does :- Like is used to compare noun also comparison is incorrect
D) Like Mecca during Eid :-correct
E) As Mecca during Eid :-As is used to compare clauses, here verb is missing

E) As Mecca during Eid - As is used to compare 2 clauses. Like is used to compare two Nouns.

"Like X, Y" idiom needs two direct nouns for comparison.. So, here Golden Temple should be compared with Mecca. D is the clear winner.
