Honestly I think you’d have a better chance applying next year just because of the lack of positions left at the higher ranking universities. Otherwise maybe you can try Warwick or Imperial in the UK.

Hi, I am 33 year old Indian male with 9.5 years of work experience, including 3 years as an IT engineer, 6.5 years consulting and program management at not-for-profits and governments, worked across diverse sectors. GRE - 332, GPA 7.6 in undergrad and 7.4 in masters in social sciences. Extra curricular include - president at student clubs and a certified fitness trainer.

I’ve postponed applying to b-schools last few years due to promotions, but realised I’ve reached the ceiling in terms of growth and wouldn’t gain much waiting for another year to apply, so keen on applying this year and Cambridge is my only choice. Worried about being too late applying in R4.

Ajayarhat you do have a standout profile with 6.5 years across non profits and the public sector. Your GRE score is solid too. If you are confident your application is in good shape (this is very very important), you should apply. I understand there are very few seats left in the last rounds. But those seats are meant to be given to folks with high GMAT/GRE scores and with differentiated profiles. You should be smart in your narrative shaping and leverage your area of work and your masters in social sciences to structure your goals. You already are at the upper end in terms of the age, so I wouldnt recommend waiting another year.

Best wishes

Your profile looks strong, with a great GRE score (332), nearly a decade of diverse work experience across IT, consulting, and program management, plus good leadership and extracurriculars. However, applying in Round 4 to Cambridge Judge carries significant risks. Seats are limited, competition is tougher, and scholarship opportunities are scarce. Additionally, at 33, you are on the older side for a full-time MBA, which may impact post-MBA recruitment.

For applicants applying in the later rounds, the motivation for applying can be valid, (suggested to apply only when you feel your overall profile looks THE BEST, then it's worth giving a shot) otherwise waiting until Round 1 next year would greatly improve your chances, giving you access to more seats, scholarships, and time to further refine your application. If applicants are set on applying in the later rounds, ensure your application clearly justifies your late timing and demonstrates the unique value you bring to the program. It's important to be realistic about the challenges!

Hello Ajayarhat,

Apologies for the delayed response but hope this finds you in time still.

Ideally, you should drop the idea of applying in Round 4 and should consider applying in the initial round next year.

Good luck!
