Hey guys,

My cum gpa is a 2.5. Have not taken the GMAT's yet, but will be aiming for a 720. My goal is to get into a top 20 business school in the US. Was just wondering whether or not its worth the effort.

Well...what are your other stats? You might be able to do it, but it will highly depend on your overall profile.

Hi, The range for GPA at the top 20 US b-schools is 2.9-3.9, so you do fall awfully short. Is there any explanation for the low GPA? If there is a genuine reason, it may help to address it in the optional essays.

In any case, take up some courses in Math, Statistics, Econ. Despite the low undergrad marks, you would still want to demonstrate your academic prowess and acing these courses will help you make your case.

Thanks for the responses guys. The GPA reason could be that I was busy, but I was just as busy as everyone else. I took classes, I was a part of a few clubs (Student Space Programming Lab, etc.) but I was just slacking as I was enjoying myself in college. I'm not sure what you mean by my other stats. I've been working for nearly 4 years at a software company that deals with trader platforms and market data, and I have been involved with several philanthropies. My latest one being one where I travelled to a refuge camp and taught the kids in the camp English. I'm not sure what other information you'd need to know. That's all I can think that would separate me on paper.
