There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
In normal mode, 20 identical printers can produce 100 pages in 3 minutes. However, in economy mode, these printers can produce 20% more pages in the same time. How many printers are needed to produce 180 pages in 3 minutes when using economy mode?
In normal mode, 20 identical printers can produce 100 pages in 3 minutes. However, in economy mode, these printers can produce 20% more pages in the same time. How many printers are needed to produce 180 pages in 3 minutes when using economy mode?
A. 25 B. 28 C. 29 D. 30 E. 32
In normal printing mode, a single printer can print \(\frac{100}{20}=5\) pages in 3 minutes.
In economy mode, this capacity is enhanced, and one printer can print \(5*1.2 = 6\) pages in the same 3 minutes.
Thus, to print 180 pages in 3 minutes in economy mode, you'd need \(\frac{180}{6}=30\) printers.
Since the time taken is the same, we can assume it to be 1 unit of time. In economy mode, printers can print 20% more pages, so 100 pages become 120 pages.
Let the number of pages printed by 180 printers be x. If 20 printers can print 120 pages in economy mode in the same time, then at the same rate and time, the equivalent number of printers required is:
[180×20][/120] =30 Therefore, 30 printers are required
