QE exhausted all the water but MM had ration left after the journey. This is the inference. To prove it lefts assume two variables - let MM sailed for m days and QE sailed for q days. Its already given only one survived with ration
1) Mm predicted 100 people with m days of ration. For 25 people it could sail for 4m days ie 300% of original days. But we know it sailed 1.5m days. Hence it has water left. Sufficient
2) QE predicted 1000 people with q days of ration. For 200 people it could sail for 5q days. We know that it sailed for 5q days. Hence it has no water left. That means the other ship MM has water left. Sufficient

Let's say Maid of Mist will tour for x days. It will have 100x units of water.
Let's say Queen Elizabeth will tour for y days. It will have 1000y units of water.
1. Maid of mist:
People traveled: 25
Expected touring days: x
Water Available: 100x
Actual touring days: 50% longer i.e. 1.5x
Actual Water to be used: (1.5x)*25=37.5x
37.5x < 100x
The ship won't fall short of water. Even if they did fall short of water, the information was enough to get a definitive answer and the statement would still be sufficient.
Sufficient.
2. QEII
People traveled: 200
Expected touring days: y
Water Available: 1000y
Actual touring days: 500% of the expected i.e. 5y
Actual Water to be used: (5y)*200=1000y
1000y = 1000y
The ship won't fall short of water but they will exhaust it in its entirety. Even if they did fall short of water, the information was enough to get a definitive answer and the statement would still be sufficient.
