Why would you vouch for the word of a consultant - I guess you should go for your gut feeling. Consultants give advice, but its not always right!!!!!
Being male Indian IT is not a stigma - you have to use it to your advantage. India is the IT leader and naturally a vast majority of students will have an IT related degree. I believe you need to look into your profile and bring out your diversity and maybe show how you overcame your physical challenges to be where you are. That itself shows aptitude, courage and determination - not all have it.
Dont blow your chances by listening to others. Listen to yourself.

hbs: DON'T give up your dreams! I wouldn't put any weight on what those "consultants" say about your chances! Just from your few line description of what you overcame, you're already really unique in my book!
Talk about those experiences! Talk about how it prevented you from doing what everyone else takes for granted, and thus you focused your energy on what you can do and did spectacularly well at those tasks! It's a story of hardship and triumph that would move any adcom if you tell the story in a positive light!
Coupled with your 700+ score, I think you have a good chance at any of the top schools as the rest of us non Indian IT folks!

Thanks Kryzak and Aviroop. You suggestions are encouraging.
I removed my previous post since I thought it gave a different image than I wanted it to. I was not saying that I am going to believe the consultants. My point was how they evaluate me keeping a prototype in mind.
I only get more determined once I hear those things from consultants.
