I've seen conflicting reports about the correlation between MGMAT CAT and the GMAT. Some find it easier, some find it harder. I think the score translator somewhere on this site shows it as a +/- 40 points difference.

Interesting. I took the GMAT a few years ago and got a 700. I think if I took it right now I should get around 720, but my goal is 750, so I've been studying pretty hard for it. Regarding the MGMAT, consensus seems to be that the quant is harder while verbal is on par with the actual GMAT.

The questions are def harder than the real GMAT. But I dont think it necessarily translates into a score difference in the same direction.

My MGMAT averaged around 760-770 mark and the real score I got was also 760.

I have access to 6 full-length CAT practice exams from Manhattan GMAT. I took my first one and found the questions more difficult than other practice exams. Ended up getting a 700, got absolutely destroyed in quant. From what I've heard, the manhattan tests are tougher than the actual GMAT exams, and that the score difference is usually 20-30 points. Is this true?

MGMAT quant is definitely harder than GMATPrep. I took a practice test yesterday and they ended up giving me 10 99%ile questions in row. Some were ridiculously hard and I realized it when I was taking the exam itself. But my verbal has been brutal and am currently working on improving it. MGMAT's verbal is decent and not as bad as it's Quant.

I actually missed the first quant question because the question was worded in a very ambiguous manner. Didn't quite know what they were asking for. Verbal wasn't as bad as quant, but there were a few critical reasoning questions that were very tough.

I would say MGMAT is a close 2nd to GMATPrep CATs. Most people score within 20-30 like you said. There are some people that consistently score a certain score but end up getting 100 points lower on the real thing. I believe that is solely due to panic and nervousness.

73% quant and 91% verbal. i have to get above 80 on quant for the schools i'm applying to. i'm also taking a few quant courses online through UCLA extension to bolster that aspect of my application.

My take on the MGMAT tests is:

the math is harder
, and

the verbal is different.

I base this on my own experience taking three MGMAT CATs, the two GMAT preps, and then the real deal (in that order). I always scored in the 99th percentile on verbal, so I can't say that either MGMAT or GMAT Prep was noticeably harder, but the kinds of questions asked were noticeably different.

In any case, I think the Manhattan GMAT tests, books, and classes are phenomenal resources. Certainly helped me.

How do you think the verbal questions are different? I noticed this as well but couldn't quite put my finger on it. I think the critical reasoning questions on MGMAT are a little trickier.

By the way, I started testing at 73 percentile in quant and came up enough to get a decent score. The quant's probably the easiest to improve on. Just put in the time and work through lots of material.

As for your question, honestly, it's all starting to blur together now as I've stopped working on the GMAT and moved on to apps. I just remember really sweating it to get through the MGMAT verbal in the 99th percentile and then finding the GMAT Prep to be generally more straightforward. In the end, though, my verbal score was the same on MGMAT as on GMAT Prep.

I'm not too worried about improving my score. My main concern is that I'm trying to balance GMAT preparation with calculus and business statistics courses that started this week. I want to do well on the GMAT and get A's on both those classes, so i guess my time management skill will be tested.

MGMAT CATs are mindblowing. The Q questions are def a little harder, but if you've practised enough there will be zero questions you will not be able to tackle. They make you think in the right direction - by far the most important thing on the GMAT.

Strongly recommend MGMAT CATs to everyone.

My scores : 680,670,680,670,690.
Final : 700. (Was a sure shot 730 had i not missed that one V question)

PS : Had time to spare on the Q section. (After reviewing each question twice!)
ALL THANKS TO MGMAT!
