Hi imnik,

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

I did a initial practice test and only got a 500 without knowing anything about GMAT and had few questions unanswered ( I learnt later that is a big no no in GMAT) . I know this is not my true ability.

My weakest sections is english as I could not eliminate the answers based on reasoning. Thus, I decided to buy the MGMAT guides and foundation guides so I can develop a solid foundation.

I am going to treat my GMAT prep as a university course. Assuming I know nothing and work through each concept so nothing is left out.

To answer your questions:
1) I am aiming to get about 700
2)I will take the GMAT once I am in one standard deviation away from my goal.
3)I plan to enroll in sept 2020 intake.

Thank you everyone for the replies!

I apologize for not being clear in my initial post.

I recently bought MGMAT 6th edition prep guides from amazon. After every chapter the book refers to the questions from the 2015 official guide. As this guide is very old, I bought a 2019 official guide.

It is important for me to practice the problems specific to the chapter so i can apply the concept after my readings.

the questions in the 2015 and 2019 official guide cannot be same! I want to know, when the guide book refers to do the question number 23 from the 2015 official guide, which question will it correspond to in the 2019 guide?

Hi imnik,

To start, you've given yourself plenty of time to focus on the GMAT before you apply to Business School - which is good.

Many Test Takers are unhappy with their initial practice CAT Scores, but you really shouldn't be - that's just a measure of your skills at that point in time and you'll likely improve as you learn more about the Exam and the Tactics that you can use to pick up points and save time. That having been said, raising a 500 to the point that you can consistently score 700+ will likely require at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study - and you'll have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

It's also worth noting that many Test Takers who use a 'book heavy' study approach end up getting 'stuck' at a particular score level, so you'll likely end up needing to invest in some new non-book resources at some point. You can certainly work through the books that you currently have though - and I suggest that you do so. In 2-3 weeks, you should take a NEW, FULL-LENGTH CAT and we can use that result to assess how well you're improving and discuss how you might adapt your studies going forward.

You're welcome! Please notice that in OG2019 some questions from OG2018 were replaced with the new questions. So, when you finish OG2019, there are gonna be unseen questions. So, you can safely solve the questions from OG2015 here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmac-officia ... 40610.html

Then move on to OG2016, 2017 and so on. In each OG thread or error, the new questions are either highlighted.

You can find even more official questions from the GMATprep question bank. But start them only AFTER comleting BOTH free official mock tests on mba.com. Read here:

Hi imnik,

I see that you were sent an Excel file that has what you were looking for. If you do end up taking a practice test in a few weeks to track your progress, feel free to reach back out here, and I’d be happy to provide some further advice.

Also, since you are just beginning your prep, you may find it helpful to read this article about how to score a 700+ on the GMAT.

Good luck!
