For older candidates (c.40), how do we find out which programmes/uni’s are looking specifically/open to us? Can one realistically apply for a Master of Finance or work toward a future as a financial analyst or in Fintech? How do we narrow our options to the most realistic ones? Thank you!
GReat question - There are some part-time Finance Masters programs - LBS is the most well known. Full-time MSFin may take a bit of convincing of the adcom to show why and how you will get employed after. I would encourage you to have a chat with programs that are of specific interest to you before applying .
As for MBA programs - There is a class of Senior MBA programs made for candidates with 8+ years of experience that are full-time - Stanford MSx, MIT / LBS Sloan Fellows , Foster Global EMBA, USC IBEAR, RSM - and then there are part-time EMBA programs you can consider as well.

Strong start to your career. CGPA is good, GMAT could be improved - you have time, retake if you haven’t taken multiple times already or try GRE... or consider waiver schools. ECs are great!
WE is a bit low, but will be at the minimum of 2 years at time of application - so you are OK to apply... but you need a really compelling reason as to why you need an MBA and have enough to share with a class room with candidates with typically 4-5 years of experience.

Great education & GPA and career history - sounds like you have a very compelling story to draw in the interest of the adcoms and can instantly see ways to tie them to different program concentrations (and treks and clubs too).
GMAT is a bit lower than the average scores, but you are still admissible. I’d go for it, but also adding some back ups with Healthcare /Biotech focus.

Good profile, but still on younger side for MBA. If tech is where you want to be - I highly recommend the Tech MBA programs - they are more open to less years of experience and can get you directly where you are wanting to go! They are made for you. Leverage your EC’s as how you will be a strong contributor and builder and be able to handle the rigorous curriculum during career search. Traditional 2 year MBA’s may be a bit harder to convince why you need an MBA only after 2 (3 at entry) years experience and what you have to offer in the classroom.

HiRachel152, ! You have a good profile, 31 is a little higher, but 8 years of exp b/c of your MS helps this! :)
Nice work experience - interesting, exciting, dynamic, never going away... you have relevant skills and experiences to share in the classroom. Not sure if you mean your GMAT is 705 FE or is the equivalent of 700 on old GMAT? - either way, 700 is admissible for T20, so you are good there. Scheller is a great option, you can also consider Tepper, Cornell... maybe even NYU - there are less candidates from Vietnam, so you bring additional insights there (good for scholarship).
RE: Leadership - if you don’t have a formal title, you need to share what you’ve done as a leader - projects, initiatives, product rollouts/updates to tech/training - they will look for this!

You have a strong profile! Work experience and academically - all looks good. with even a 675 or higher you’d be competitive for T10/M7... need to determine goals and how to connect to the specific school/program/concentration

Research papers are less important to b-school adcoms... for EC’s do you do any volunteer or probono work with current/past employer? mentor or tutor someone? it doesn’t have to be under a formal organization or have a certificate - its about showing passion, drive and community involvement ---> how will you be involved while at XYZ school? how will you contribute? can you manage multiple responsibilities/priorities?
How about hobbies?

Yes, I think you could get that with some of the other schools that are higher than Scheller as well. You could consider the 1 year Tech MBAs as well and have an even higher ROI with only 1 year opportunity cost and high chance of scholarship and employment.
