International students here. I got admitted to McCombs in R2 with $30k and was happy to go to Austin. Today I got off the waitlist at Johnson with $90k scholarship. Now I'm torn between those two schools.

Here's my thought and hope to get some more opinions:

Post-MBA goal: Tech>MBA Rotational Program>Consulting, I think Austin is more promising compared to Ithaca
Overall cost: with scholarship, Johnson is about $30k cheaper
Ranking: generally Cornell is considered more prestigious especially in my country, however, I want to stay in the US for a few years. Not sure about McCombs in Texas/ southwest vs Johnson in NY/ Northeast

Hi, Congratulations on your admits in the top 40 ranked schools. As you mention, Cornell is well reputed and top in rankings compared to McCombs. Considering scholarships and reputation, I suggest you go with Cornell. However, before going to the final conclusion, check with the latest alumni groups.

You would get more opportunities and variety of opportunities at Johnson and the extra money will help.
You can definitely recruit in TX if you wish to go there but TX only has Dell headquarters in Round Rock. All other tech is satellite offices there, so less visibility/priority. For tech you should be aiming Seattle or Bay Area since that's where the big guys are, not Austin.

Congrats on your admits!

Hello talkingheads

I like the selection of nick and the group

Cornell should be fairly easy choice here. ;)

Cornell is not only more prestigious in your country (I will assume it is somewhere in Europe), it is the same globally or in US.

Cornell is Ivy League.

Are you attracted to Austin, because of music scene ?

I believe there is no need to show you the overall rankings. ;)

On top of that, with $90k scholarship Cornell would be sin to refuse.

Whatever you choose, you will not be "on the road to nowhere" :)

However, continuing In Talking Heads jargon, Cornell/Ithaca/ Must be the place

Unless you have a spouse in Austin (even then some would argue the other way), I think Cornell should be the choice.

If you ask McCombs to match or top the scholarship amount, then could be a different story.

Hi
You might want to consider if you have already paid fees at McCombs as that could be then a major consideration..
