Just wanted to share with some of you my experience of preparing for the GMAT so far.
I still have 1 more week of preparation (gave myself 1 month of time to study and after 2 weeks decided to schedule the GMAT to have a deadline) and so far I have done 3 CAT Exams: 2 GMAT Prep and 1
MGMAT (I have also purchased the 2 extra GMAT tests from GMAT Prep and plan on doing them this weekend)
After studying for about 2-3 weeks I've decided to take my 1st GMAT, a GMAT Prep and I scored 700 (Q48 V38) and since I had a big issue related to timing on the quant part and a minor one on the verbal part I thought that the result wasn't so bad all things considered (my goal is to score at least 720).
About 1 week later I took a
MGMAT CAT and scored a 640 (Q44 V33) - huge problems on the quant, not as much on the verbal. I must say that I freaked out after seeing the results. I thought the quant part was MUCH harder than GMAT Prep and the verbal part too (maybe not so much harder, but not so clear as GMAT Prep).
I've studied for the rest of the day after I took the 1st
MGMAT and took a GMAT Prep the next day. For my relief I scored a 730 (Q50 V39). This time I didn't have any problems related to timing on the quant (actually got really surprised when I saw that I finished it 7 min ahead of time - not so good since when I checked the results there were at least 2 out of the 3 questions I got wrong that I could have solved if I gave myself a few extra minutes), and was about 5min shorter that I would like on the verbal.
In conclusion, my opinion based on taking 1
MGMAT and 2 GMAT Prep tests is that
MGMAT exams are much tougher, specially on the quant, the verbal is not so much harder than GMAT Prep, but answers are not as clear.
To sum up my results so far:
GMAT Prep: 700 (Q48 V38)
MGMAT: 640 (Q44 V33)
GMAT: 730 (Q50 V39)
Does anyone have a similar opinion?
I hope to update this comment with good news once I've taken the real test next week.
