Hi All,

I was going through the threads but couldn't find any relevant thread for the Msc SCM program. I have admit for August 2017 (Got a deferred admit). Thought of opening a thread where prospective students can have a chat.

Thanks,
Puneet

How did you get a deferred admit? Did you originally applied for August 2016? I have applied for August 2017 couple weeks ago. I haven't received any response yet.

Hi...yes, I had applied for 2016 in April this year. I was given an admit for 2017 instead. It was solely MIT's decision. they typically take 3-4 weeks to respond.

That's awesome congrats! Will you be accepting the admission? I'm not really sure what my chance is and I've been getting really antsy waiting on the result.. I'm hoping applying for Round 1 will increase my chance..

Also quick question on the application. I forgot to send the official test scores on time so the official GRE score got sent after November 15th (around 25th). Do you know if that will make my application late and falls into the Round 2? They watched my video statement, but I'm not sure that would mean my application is considered under Round 1. Thanks..

Hey...thanks for the wishes...yes,I will be joining the program in August 2017. Round 1 definitely helps. It is easier to crack through. What is your profile?

Also, the official scorecard doesn't matter. I am yet to send my official GMAT report. They typically watch everyone's video at least once. Though not completely. In my case, they watched the video at least 5-6 times;however, just once did they see it completely.

They take around 3-4 weeks to get back on the result. I think you should hear back somewhere in mid December if not late.

I took GRE instead of GMAT since my plan wasn't b-school from the get-go. i got 160 for verbal (85 percentile) 168 for quant (95 percentile) and 3.5 for analytical writing (42 percentile). I studied supply chain in undergrad with 3.4 GPA at a public university in US, and I have 2-3 years of working in the marketing floor of an oil and gas company (production capacity, operations, process improvements, SAP, etc).

I'm a little short on the average working experience but I experienced cool things such as implementing SAP for the company, participating in organizational restructure, working in production/marketing strategy etc. I'm also hoping to negate my low writing score and GPA with good essays and letters of recommendation. I'm not the perfect candidate in this sense, but I also think I have a decent shot. Do you know what the admission board emphasizes on? I'm guessing they take a holistic approach.

Hey...sorry for the delay in reply. You are right, they take a holistic view of things. They prefer a diverse class and I don't think lower number of work years will make a significant impact.

I am on the higher side of things. Close to 11 years of SCM experience.

I feel you have a strong chance to make it through. You should hear back from them soon. Do let me know the outcome. I hope we are classmates in August'17

Thank you for starting the thread and congratulations for the admit. I am also thinking of applying for the course in Round 2. Can you please elaborate why do you think Round 1 gives better chance of admit than other rounds. Just a bit anxious as I have missed Round 1.

Hi...thanks for your wishes. There is no specific reason as such; however it is always better to apply early as the competition tends to be less. Still I feel that Round 2 is equally good. Round 3 is a stretch. For international students like me, R1 or R2 only make sense. Let me know if you need any help with the application.
