Otto Wagner’s text indicates that the failure of modern architecture cannot be blamed on the ideals of its founders -This is something that is mentioned in the passage.
Then the later paragraphs mentions that Otto believes called for a new style based on modern technologies and models of construction. The next para talks about that Otto presented it plainly however the scenario was more complex. The architect will eventually develop the skills of the engineer and the aesthetic demands can be met in a satisfactory way. So, are we saying that Otto is not solely promoting modern technologies? Then the last para also talks about how rational he was but then at the same time he was emotional about the great works of Italian Renaissance and Austrian Baroque. How does the later paras connect with the first line that modern architecture cannot be blamed on the ideals on its founders where the text mentions that utility was given more importance than aesthetic.
