Hi Vijay,

Concordia requires original signed LORs before your admit is confirmed. You can ask your referee to provide you the soft copy of the signed letter, which you can upload with your application. Drop a mail to Concordia's adcom requesting them to process your application with the scanned copy of one of your LORs and its perfectly legitimate, no exception there. I suggest you research air mail charges (not the registered mail/courier charges) from your client's location in UK to Montreal and your place in India. Air mail charges are the least. Ask your referee to send the letter to location with lower charges. It could take 20-30 days to reach your place/Montreal by air mail. You can later send the mail to Montreal through courier. But in any case, your client will have to incur some delivery charges, which you can reimburse to him, if need be. If cost is not a constraint for you, check with DHL to pick the letter from your client's place in UK to deliver it to Concordia. They may charge more, but its possible to book delivery and pay charges in India, so your client is not involved in money matters. Ask him to paste Concordia's address on the envelope.

Regards,
Chinmay

That is fantastic information, thank you. Much appreciated. Let me explore all the possibilities you've explained above.
How many LORs do they require? If it is two, I think I'll skip the client in the UK, and probably stick to my ex-managers here in India.
Also one more question, is it okay to collect all the two/three references and mail them as one package? Again, thanks a tonne for the above suggestions mate.

Regards,
Vijay G

Hi,

You need to provide 3 LORs. Yes it is perfectly fine to send all 3 LORs in one parcel. I sent my transcripts and LORs in one delivery.

Fantastic then, that really helps. I think I'll figure out and find someone else here in my workplace who would be willing to write a reco for me.

Hello bro..just write the recommendations and scan and upload them.Once you get an admit, you can send the LOR's and the official transcripts.I have a conditional letter of acceptance and am yet to send the official copy of my transcripts and LOR's. So you could tell your recommender to wait till you get admission to send you copy of the LOR

Thank you Manoj for the idea. :) I understand the recommendations will have to be on their official letterpad?

Yes, but your referees can provide their LORs on their personal letterheads as well. The HR dept of both of my past employers declined to issue LOR on company letterhead. So finally I had to get it done on my Line Managers' personal letterhead.

Hi Manoj,

are you accepting JMSB's offer?

No scholarship mentioned in offer letters from both JMSB and Desautels. I am checking with Desautels though. I am expecting a revert from Alberta in this week. No update from Sauder as of now. Yes, I will be heading to Desautels. am required to pay the deposit by 15 Jan.

Should the LOR be in certain format , or is it just like writing an essay with these key points : performance, appropriateness of the MBA degree and potential for future business leadership.

I suppose I should wait for my References to complete this before I submit my application, since I have to attach the informal copy of it. Correct me if am wrong.

Thank you in advance.

Hello NB06
I know it can be a pain in the ass.But you could try.You could also follow CHinmay's advise and get it on Line Manager's letter heads.

What is line manager letter head? Pardon my ignorance please. I spoke to my referrals . One of them said they can get letter from company which can authenticate the referrer, not the reco content. Hence LOR cannot be on letter head, but attached doc authenticating the referer can be done. :(

Friend,

Search on Google for letterhead format. Download one which is suitable. Instead of company name and details, put your Line Manager's/ referee's details such as his name, qualification, address, contact details etc in it. Your Line Manager's letterhead will be ready. Give it to him and ask him to write his LOR on such letterhead. Such letters are accepted by schools. I sent them to McGill, Concordia and Alberta. All of them accepted my LORs. No need to involve HR or your company in this exercise.
