A. upon finding their house and all its contents - Awkward construction
B. to find his house and all its contents - This is the correct choice!
C. finding their house and all it contains - Pronoun reference error: their does not have a proper antecendant
D. when he finds that his house and its contents is is after contents is wrong
E. in finding their house, with all its contents - Pronoun reference error: their does not have a proper antecendant

Reached the same answer choice but I have a question- In D, if "is" is changed to "are" will it then be correct? In the sense, is the placement of "when" correct otherwise?

Because "their" has no logical antecedent.

A. upon finding their house and all its contents (Homeowner is singular. So usage of their is wrong)
B. to find his house and all its contents (Correct)
C. finding their house and all it contains (Same as A)
D. when he finds that his house and its contents is (Contents is plural. So usage of 'is' is wrong)
E. in finding their house, with all its contents, (Same as A)

I also have the same question. I think it will be - "...finds out that his house and its contents are...."
