Hello,
CharlesThCreator. It is rare that I disagree with Marty above, and this proves another instance in which I concur. If you are least comfortable with SC questions, then you should focus primarily on SC questions. But do all of your tests reveal the same? I ask because I have seen cases in which someone may identify, say, CR as a weakness, but an ESR shows RC to be a soft spot instead, or at least as weak as the area in question. (I kid you not: I had a client who failed to inform me, after improving his CR and SC performance but flatlining in RC, that an earlier (actual) exam he had taken showed RC to be the worst area. I felt duped, since his responses to my inquiries about his RC performance were always to the effect that it was "fine" or "in good shape." I steered lessons in a different direction thereafter and learned NOT to take people at their word.)
You cannot guarantee a 42 in the Verbal section, but you can increase the probability of reaching or surpassing that benchmark with a consistent performance, and that is where streaks can figure in. Just make sure you do not focus too intently on one "problem" area at the expense of others. Consider, too, the discrepancy between your exam from several days ago and your more recent performance in mocks. What has made the difference, in your view? Are you more comfortable? Did you place too much emphasis on accuracy before, perhaps at the expense of efficiency? What are you going to do differently the next time? Basically, you need to pinpoint where you may have gone awry in your last actual exam before you can realistically hope to improve upon that performance by 50 or more points—reaching into the 99th percentile, no small feat—in less than a fortnight.
Best of luck to you.
