Hey everyone, I emailed the admissions ppl a few days ago. If you went to an English speaking undergrad university they won't be interviewing you. They are only interviewing international students. So relax, sit tight and you'll hear on March 1st (if your an international student and you don't get an interview in Febraury I presume that's a bad thing...).

Well.. I am an international student and I went to US school for undergrad. Nonetheless, I got an interview invitation yesterday from MIT.. :wink:

Does anyone have an idea about the total applications this time for MIT Mfin course ? {last yr i think it was 175}
And how many they might be calling for interviews this time ??

Hey, all they said was that they will interview international students or those who went to a non-English speaking undergrad university. They made it pretty clear that they don't interview every person that they admit so I guess interviews are something they do if they feel they need to know something more about you. But then again MIT's whole system is kinda like that (100-word essays and such), it seems like they don't really care to know much about you but just whether you are qualified academically.

Hey guys, I just went back and re-read the e-mail and it says if you went to an English speaking undergrad university you "most likely" will not receive and interview. However, most students do not receive interviews before being admitted. So some will get interviews and some will not but it's not a bad thing if you aren't interviewed. I hope that helps...

Wow... looks like a lot of people applied to MIT this year. I heard a rumor applications went up from 175 to ~900 this year, which I don't at all doubt now.

Wow, 900 apps? That sounds like too much. From what I know Princeton is the best MSF program in the country and they usually get around 500 applicants a year. 900 would be an absurd number of people. I sure hope that's not accurate haha.

but i am not sure about the interview format ?

Does anyone know what kind of interview will it be ?

Hi Guys, does anyone know if the interview is for shortlisted people or simply every international student who applies ? in the sense, is it standard procedure ?

I also received a invite for an interview with MIT.
I am also an international student but completed my undergrad in the US... but I find it hard to believe that just the international students are being interviewed.

Then again, I dont presume that all students would be interviewed.

From the MIT website:
Is an interview required?
While an interview is not required, the admissions committee may want to speak with you to gather additional information following the initial review of your application. Please note that interviews are by invitation only and may be conducted in person or by video, depending on availability of the applicant and interviewer(s). Arrangements and detailed information will be provided if an interview request is extended.

So there you go. Dont worry folks, fingers crossed!

Btw, did anybody hear back from Princeton?
I read on the previous post that somebody received an interview call... I havent heard anything yet and was really looking forward to it.

Oh well.
