The discrepancy between your GMATPrep and Manhattan scores is quite common and, in fact, should probably be expected. I also detect some last-minute nervousness on your part, which (again) is normal. In other words, I see no reason to cancel or postpone your scheduled test.

I know it's frustrating that you received differing GMAT sim test scores, but try not to let that worry you.

A score can dip from one exam to another even with the same amount of knowledge or the same percentage of correct/incorrect. The GMAT scoring algorithm takes many factors into account including where you make errors, how many mistakes you commit in a row, whether you finish both sections or leave questions out, whether the last few questions of either section seemed like they were guessed at, how you felt on test day, etc. These factors can all affect your score.

From one test to the next you can easily jump +/- 30 points (and even up to 80 or so) depending on where the mistakes are made. *Where* you make mistakes can often be more important than how many. Overall, when a student wants to know where he/she stands, the best way to do so is to take the average after a few sim tests. This should get you to a fairly close estimation of where you are at.

As for Economist GMAT Tutor, in general, our students tend to score within about +/- 30 points or so from what they get on our tests and the GMAT test preps.

Hi Seniors,

I am having huge fluctuations in my gmatprep scores. I have taken all 6 mgmat Cats and recently gave both the gmatprep exams. The maximum that I could manage on MGMAT was a 730.

I gave the Gmatprep1 exam 5 days ago and scored a 760 (QA 50;VA 42), with 9 incorrect questions in both quant and verbal and I gave Gmatprep2 exam today and scored just 730 (QA 49; VA 40), with 8 incorrect in quant and 9 incorrect in verbal.

I have my GMAT exam day after tommorrow and at this moment I am actually not able to make anything out of my Gmatprep exams. I had no repeat in my prep exams and number of incorrect questions were actually less in the second prep compared to the number of incorrect questions in the first prep.

I sincerely request your help at this moment cause my target score is 750 and I am not able to make anyhtinh outta this situation.

Regards
Akshay

Manhattan quant is definitely harder. You are still near your target. I would recommend to postpone your test for month, work on your weaknesses and you never know you may be well over your target score.
Best of luck. :-D
Kudofy me if you find it helpful.

Hi Gmatbattle,

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately I was not able to postpone my GMAT and could muster only a 710 this time with a breakup of QA-50; VA-36. I think I will have to give gmat again the next year.

Thanks
Akshay
