Hi karnavora1,

Quant Scaled Scores in the mid-Q40s mean that your overall math 'knowledge' is pretty good, but you're missing out on lots of 'strategy-based' points. The Quant section of the GMAT is NOT a 'math test'; it's a critical thinking test that requires lots of little calculations as you work through it. To score significantly higher in this section (and thus, overall), you have to change how you 'see' (and respond to) that section of the GMAT. Since you are not facing any immediate application deadlines, then you can proceed with your studies however you like; if you take an efficient approach during this next phase of your studies, then you could potentially hit your Score Goal in 1.5 - 2 months).

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far besides the course that you mentioned?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hey EMPOWERgmatRichC,

1) I have been studying since March, took a break for a couple of months in the middle from June to August for some personal reasons.

2) I started with the e-gmat course and the MGMAT guides, and solved questions from GMAT Club. For verbal I would filter the questions from the OG and Verbal Guide, for Quant it would usually be GMAT Club Tests.

3) GMAT Prep 1 - 600 (Q45, V28) 09th Aug'20
Manhattan Mock - 630 (Q44, V32) 18th Nov'20
GMAT Prep 2 - 650 (Q45, V35) 28th Dec'20

4) I'll start applying for them only once I can get a decent score, if it takes another 6 months I'll go with the application process only after that. The colleges I want to apply to are Rotman, ISB, Goizueta, McGill

I am so glad you replied ScottTargetTestPrep in fact I was just contemplating getting the TTP course to strengthen my Quant basics.

I think what you are saying definitely makes sense and practicing the right way from here on will be crucial.

I just had 1 more question, do you think I should be giving more Official mocks or should I buy a MGMAT pack and exhaust that before I get the other 2 Official Exam packs?

I think doing the official practice exams is just fine. If you have any questions about TTP, let me know!
