need info on 800score.com and Manhattan review CATs

Question

Hi,
Can anyone shed some light and share your knowledge on the tests available from '800score.com' and 'Manhattan review'..?

How reliable and effective are they as compared to real GMAT(I know only 2 mba.com tests are basically in sync with real GMAT but apart from these)..?

Yeah,I already saw that link.. even 800score.com tests are listed over there..Although no presence of Manhattan review CATs...!

by the way,do you know that Veritas and Manhattan GMAT also recommend/provide 800score.com tests beyond their own tests.but,found mixed reaction on these tests on the forum so got confused..!

If you are looking for a CAT that most accurately simulates your GMAT experience, then the 2 GMAT PREP tests are the best. MGMAT tests are regarded by many experts to be amongst the best in the industry, however you will be better served in doing them for the purpose of practice, to gauge how well you are doing, and to extensively review your performance to pin point the areas where you need some work before G Day. Most members who have taken MGMAT tests consider the Quant on them to be tougher then the actual test, and therefore extremely helpful as a PRACTICE material to sharpen your quant ability. People getting 45-47 on MGMAT CAT's do end up very close to 50 on the real thing..

MGMAT offers only 6 CATs..and that even comes with purchase of any of their books.But beyond that what else for more practice...? Is it Kaplan/800score.com/Manhattan review CATs..?

You have the GMAT pre New edition (available from mba.com) that comes with 2 CAT's which man recomend taking atleast twice each (as the question bank is large and their are not many repeats taking it twice) There is also GMAT PREP old edition which can be download from the internet that provides 2 more CAT's. So you all ready have 10 Full lenght CAT's for practice. If you wish for more, you can always buy the Kaplan premier book for around 20$ that gives you 5 CAT's not to mention that you can use it too read some more RC passages or practice SC or CR questions (the Quant on it is very easy, and the only decent collection of questions is in the diagnostic - intermediate level). These are the CAT's that i have, 15 should be enough, and if you are not doing well after 15, taking more CAT's will probably not help much (have to hit toe books again). Use these CAT's to hone in on your timing, and stamina. Taking them twice means 30 CAT's. I plan to take 2-3 CAT's a week spending the rest of the time reviewing CAT's and revising my weaknesses.. So thats almost a month and half of CAT's :-)

You can re-use the MGMAT CATs by resetting in our account. MGMAT has a large question bank and its questions are far better than any other source out there.

Yeah I know that they can be reset but can you tell me for 2nd use what is the probability that we may get repetitive questions..?

Did you try out them for 2nd attempt..?If so,to what extent you got repetitive questions..?

Many people have sad that the second time on the GMATPREP they may come across 1-2 questions but there is really no way to tell unless you conciously take the test with the purpose of finding out (given that one does forget a few questions if there has been a while). You should take the CAT's (MGMAT) to hone in on your Strategy (how to attempt, pacing, etc) and to see our progress...For RAW PRACTICE of questions, you are better of doing the GMAT CLUB TESTS or the free questions in the sections here, and use the CAT's only for strategy refinement (MGMAT, Kaplan etc) and for finding out where you stand vis-a-vis your desired score (GMATPREP)

Guys any idea about 'GMAT PREP old edition' tests as the format has undergone a change so how effective to try out these now..?
Can we reset these CATs like the new one..?

Our tests are statistically normed and reasonably accurate (many of our corporate clients describe them as more accurate than the "leading" GMAT companies). However, all GMAT simulations have accuracy issues to some degree and the GMAT score itself is a "moving target."
