Planning to apply for the class of 2018( 4 years work experience by then) to top 20 colleges. What are the fronts I should improve on?
Which colleges from rank 10-20 do I have a better shot at?
Getting into US colleges of rank 10-20, average GMAT score is 715 with avg work experience of 5 years. If you want to apply with 4 years of experience, you need to have higher GMAT score - in the range of 720-730 minimum. May be taking another attempt at GMAT would not be a bad idea.
With the given profile, you can focus on improving your professional accomplishments. In what ways you stand out from your peer group. If you can develop stories which illustrate your leadership, teamwork, analytical, managerial, creative and other abilities, that will add strength to your application. Any leadership position in your extracurricular activities whether sports or community service would be great plus.
With GMAT score of 700 and 4 years of work experience, you can target applying to below six schools (I'm assuming you are interested in US schools only):
1. University of Virginia: Darden
2. Duke University: Fuqua
3. Cornell University: Johnson
4. Carnegie Mellon: Tepper
5. Georgetown University: McDonough
6. University of Washington: Foster
Darden and Fuqua are "Stretches" schools. Johnson and Tepper are "Possibles" schools and McDonough and Foster are "Likelies".
