I dont know about how to find if the answer is from og or not but you can seadch them from question bank if you specifically want to practice from official guide questions only

My doubt being, I don’t want to answer any GMAT mock questions during practise on GMAT club. So I want to avoid those.

Each question has a source in the tag above the question where difficulty of question, type of question and source is given.

Practicing questions from the question bank might be helpful, you can also select a particular type or section or topic of questions you want to study from

The entire forum is gmat material 😇 but it huge. I suggest that you start with a book, it’s very inexpensive and will avoid wasting a lot of your time.

You can pick up the official guide, the new one is coming out on Wednesday so perfect timing. Official guide however does not have strategies teach you how to solve questions and how to save time and how to stop making mistakes. For that you can pick up an old copy of Manhattan guides. Well you can pick up an old Kaplan book to get you up to speed with the test mechanics and what is tested. Once you got your bearings, and you know your weaknesses and you know what you need to focus on, you can see where you want to invest your time.

As a beginner, is the 6 week plan suggested by gmac good enough or is some tailoring necessary?

GMAC is amazing and the best when it comes to questions. In terms of the study plan, they don’t really produce any study materials that would actually teach you something… so I would probably say that they are six week plan is not going to be very impactful unless you’re looking to improve 50 points or something like that.

Thanks for that, so any other source to get a good study plan to follow? Especially with the new GMAT Focus edition

Their mission is testing, not score improvement and they did come out with some basic guides to sort of point you to the right direction but when you are the person doing the testing, providing prep materials is a bit conflicting 😂 So I would probably argue that any test prep companies study plan would be more effective.

PS. Again if you’re looking to improve less than 100 points, six weeks may be OK but most prep plans are at least two months and many of them are three

there is somewhat of a lag when it comes to GMAT focus because a lot of the prep companies were kind of guard and didn’t have the time to develop great new resources. However, you can use the conventional classic prep plans. Almost all of the books and courses have a study plan and even if you’re doing self study, I recommend you get at least a book of some sort besides the official guide. It helps with the guessing and doubting whether you’re doing the right thing or missing something.

PS. We have a fairly brief study plan that was adopted to GMAT focus but it’s definitely not as good as the old study plan was.

Here are a few still heavily classic: study-plan-383/
