How does this get me a score of 81 in Quants?
How to interpret this better and what else should I improve?

I don’t know that I can interpret the little correct incorrect but I see you’ve spent quite a bit of time on certain questions, way beyond recommended time.

I would recommend not doing that. Is that 10 mins a question you hung out at the very end of the test?

If you are repeating marking them incorrectly that means you might get fatigued in the mid way and take a bit of extra time to do those questions carefully next time.
Understood
Thanks!!

Yeah so
So at the end I had 10 mins to spare
Where I used them on 2 questions
And I changed them from incorrect to correct

So is it fair to say that even thought I corrected them at the end, but because those questions were marked incorrectly the first time, the exam had dropped the difficulty to easy and hence my score didn't improve inspite of getting them correct?

Hey Everyone!
I’m onto the GMAT journey for the first time. Could someone please suggest some resources for Quant preparation specifically? Something that covers it end to end? So far everything seems a bit scattered to me :(

It’s very easy for Juan. You can get the Manhattan book if you prefer paper learning or if you prefer a course, I believe TTP is really strong for quant but it’s a very extensive course, see the number of people struggle complete all the sections and all the assignments.

You will also need the official guide to so that you have access to the questions for both quant and also DI

If you’re really really bad, you can find some beginner books for quant such as Manhattan GMAT math foundations. It’s out of print officially but it’s still very relevant and very accurate, it’s a book

Actually, I take it back, I wouldn’t say if you’re really really bad but if you’re rusty with basic math and you need a refresh about how fractions work or how to do some of the basic equations and things that are assumed you know in other books and courses

Just for some extra context — I have purchased the GMAT’s official set of 4 books so far. I attempted the questions from the Quant book, and in the Easy section, I was able to solve almost all the questions without any revisions required.

@bb grateful if you could advice me on few things that i am currently struggling with: 1) RC - Detail & inference questions which requires me to go to the particular location in the passage. 2) CR - How to improve accuracy on specifically hard questions (i struggle a lot because of time limit). 3) PS / DS - How to reduce the reaction time when a question flashes (basically what i mean to say is after i see a question it takes me a while to even start so how can i potentially reduce the reaction time so that i can start solving instantly whenever i see a PS/DS question).

1. After a while you may discover that it’s actually better and easier to read Details more carefully to avoid going back. It’s not guaranteed you will never have to go back but it shouldn’t be a long reading process too look up a few details if you have to. You should still be able to reread a portion of the passage and answer the question within a minute and a half or less

2. What is your CR accuracy on medium difficulty? I wouldn’t worry about her questions until you can really nail the medium ones and easy. Make sure you answer the question in your own words before you try to solve it

3. I’m not sure how to help with this one. I’m not sure if you’re talking about five seconds or 30 seconds here. This is likely practice based to where your mind should already be thinking how to solve it while you read the question but I would caution you about jumping into fast. If you have no break between questions, they start merging together after a while and careless mistakes abound. If you want to improve this, you can go back to the official guide and open it on a random page of a question you already done and you just look at the question in your name what type it is and how you would solve it and you just do that for 10 minutes for three days and that should improve it quite a bit. Don’t solve them but just explain how to solve them.

Thanks a lot!! All three tips would really be helpful. Will implement them right away. Thank you again!!

By the way, you should be able to see a progress within a day or maximum three so if things are not working, come back and ask more or explain where you hit the challenge or why you feel it’s not working. There are differences and everyone’s mind works slightly differently so my advice may be completely useless to you... so minimize the amount of time you waste on following advice and potentially is not optimized for your brain configuration is what I’m trying to say.

PS. Ultimately all the problems are solvable so we’ll figure it out. It just may take a few attempts
