Hi oleary709,

From what you describe, you are not facing any immediate application deadlines - so you have the flexibility to study any way that you like (and that's great!). The OG books are great sources for practice questions, but they're not designed to teach you Tactics, patterns or the little 'secrets' behind the GMAT - for those, you'll need Course-oriented materials. There are a variety of different study materials that you might use while training for the GMAT, so it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
3) What is your overall goal score?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

If you are weak in quant go for target test prep.
And for verbal try Egmat.

Hey folks, I have been studying off and on for the GMAT for about a month now and not feeling great. I got the OG books for 80 dollars(Canadian) and have been going through it but feeling like I'm not really getting anywhere. I noticed that Magoosh is having a sale on their programs for $200 for their premium program. I don't have a specified writing date and I'm not necessarily in a big rush but it seems like it may be worth it!

Would love to know what your thoughts are.
If you not giving GMAT in near future(3-4 months) then take a diagnostic test first, better an official mock(but know test format before). Then review it to know your weak areas. And since you're not pressed for GMAT, take a trial of courses provided by various test prep companies but don't rush into paying for any. You can find so many course review on Gmatclub.
Evaluate your situation and decide.
Don't use OG question if you are unprepared because they are the best for your prep.

Hi, if you don't feel confident after going through OG, perhaps you need a course. Magoosh is our pretty good in Quant and Verbal. RC is unnecessarily tough. Good luck

Hi,

Let me help you here. To score well on GMAT, you need to follow a proper study plan with clear deadlines. Studying on and off randomly would eventually result in wastage of time and money. So, I recommend you to start studying by creating a study plan and also use a right resource to study. Let me elaborate on how to plan your studies perfectly.

OG might be a great resource for GMAT questions but is definitely not an ideal resource to start your preparation. To learn the concepts and the methodology, you need to use a standard resource which teaches you both the concepts and their application. As you are pretty confused about which online course to choose, let me share my insights here on how to choose an online course.

The best way to select the course is to check the free trial of the course and then decide whether it is suitable for you or not.
I’m also sharing a link of a blog regarding “The key factors to consider while evaluating the right course”. You can read through it to understand how to evaluate any course.

If you are open to suggestions, I would like you to take a look at the course offered by GMATWhiz. It is one unique course which offers you a personalized study plan which is integrated with the course. This will ensure that you won’t be going off the track while preparation as you’ll be having specific deadlines to finish in a week.

It offers you the best quality content and employs an artificial intelligence driven learning. The concept booster and practice quizzes after every concept video help you solve GMAT like questions using the right methodology. It offers you real time improvement modules so that you can work on your weaker areas right away.
There are many more exciting features offered by the course. I would recommend you to check the free trial of GMATWhiz before taking the decision. Finally, I would like to end with a stat that GMATWhiz has an average score improvement of 117 points which is the highest in the industry.

I hope you find this helpful and I wish you take the right decision. You can always contact if you have any further queries regarding the GMAT preparation or choosing the right course. I’m also sharing a link of scheduling a free consultation call in case you wish to discuss one on one.

I also have the same situation and don't know what to do

Try to study using an online course which has specific deadlines every week. Studying from random sources and not having a study plan can often make you feel distracted. I personally used GMATWhiz and improved my score from 570 to 680. I provides a personalized study plan by taking into account the number of hours you can dedicate in a week. So it's totally yours.

I would say don't get disappointed. Invest the time and money in the right resource.
