Pretty silly thing to say.... 😂 did you expect him to have a German accent? Accents are not something you are born with but something you acquire. You would expect that with time, a person with adapt some elements of the country they live in. Such as dressing or driving on the same side of the street as everyone else or eating with local utensils such as chopsticks in Korea. And accents... that are not fake. It’s a natural human tendency to pick up the lingo and adapt their style to the style around them so they don’t sound weird. This is how humans have adapted and how learning happens.

PS. If you are afraid of acquiring a foreign accent, I would suggest you stay back in your home or GASP you may get a fake accent too.

PPS. I am not sure that there is such thing as a genuine accent and a fake accent. I think all accents are learned and all of us don’t think we have them because we sound normal tour selves and we think everyone else should sound like that... right?

bb,

Just to add to your thoughts
The topic of the thread is far more relevant than the posts/comments.
By that, i sometime ignore a few posts.

Reading your post reminded me of my days at one of the Japanese companies. There, expats are very particular about you learning Japanese language without bothering about the accent. Hence i learnt Japanese or at least i started learning, until I left.
A language in itself is a culture so learning it or speaking it is a way to show native-speaking people that one respects and is willing. Though Jks must have posted it frivolously, if not then his/her bad, i ignored it as i know that Souvik must have something in the session, which is more important.

Thus, an Indian joke in japanese language is hardly funny as is a japanese in hindi.

Nonetheless, those who are looking forward would definitely benefit from this session.

Live YouTube Q&A with Michigan Ross AdCom

Monday, Nov 23, 2020 7 AM PST | 10 AM EST | 8:30 PM IST

Ross is going test-optional for R2 this application season.... but they still recommend to submit scores for SOME applicants. We have a bunch of questions - who should take the test to differentiate themselves and who can apply as is without taking the GMAT? Has Ross seen a decline in scores in R1? How is the ideal applicant to NOT have a GMAT score? and who may want to get a score anyway?

Join us on Monday, Nov 23rd on YouTube for a live interview with Ross AdCom!

P.S.
The Michigan Ross School of Business made an important announcement this week regarding its 2020-2021 admissions requirements. While reviewing Round 1 applications, the admissions team encountered several instances of applicants facing hardships caused by COVID-19. Therefore, the school will allow any candidate to request a standardized test waiver this season. Consequently, for the full-time MBA 2020-21 application cycle, candidates can request a test waiver for the GMAT and GRE as well as English proficiency tests (TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE).
