Thanks Tenore for your valuable insight!!

"stern desc for Essay 3 says : If you are not submitting Essay 3 online, you must provide a brief description of your submission with your online application."

Can we do both? write online (not brief) and do something creative?

I am pulling my hair  on this creative 3rd essay for spring admission...Can anyone of you admitted guys throw some light on how to approach this essay? I am planning to do a PPT (atleast this gives me something to write..) not sure how one can explain about self with a sigle picture or object...is PPT ok?

In my opinion, essay 3 is about tying your personal self into your NYU application. After reading essay 3, people should say, “Wow, I have a sense of who SV6 is, and I’d want to be in class with someone like that.”

You’ll want the content to relate to your professional self, but only indirectly, by showing professionally applicable traits in a personal way.

Also, you’d want to have a cool theme to link everything. One girl made a wikipedia page about herself, which I thought was pretty cool (and she got in). Another made a scrabble board with personal traits glued to it… and also got in.

FYI - Just got my Kroll approval and welcome e-mail ... I only registered with them last week. Go figure. Must be because I'm such an upstanding member of the community. Ha.
They must have all gone out this afternoon as I just received mine and I started the Kroll process just two weeks ago. It's nice to have the official green light.
Well, I too got an email from Kroll today. And guess what? They asked me to submit a doc that I submitted 2 weeks back. How about that?! However, it's good to know they're back from their summer vacation (?!).

Btw, did you guys get that email from Stern or Kroll directly? What does the email say?

After my two month+ odyssey, I finally received "official" word that my background check is complete.

Now I can officially look forward to starting the semester.

For those that have asked, the "official" notification comes from NYU and NOT Kroll. Kroll will only reach out if they need some further information or they have a question (NOTE: My gmail account flagged the message from NYU as SPAM, so make sure you guys check your SPAM folders).

I look forward to meeting all of my fellow classmates next month and good luck to the people on the WL.

Yes, I'm in the same boat...got accepted June 18th and nothing back yet. When I received my acceptance email from decisions@nyu.edu (don't remember the exact address), it did NOT wind up in my gmail spam. I'm hoping this will be the same case b/c I have been checking my spam folder, but I had such an influx of spam in the past 2 weeks, I hope I didn't miss anything.

Would appreciate if one of the admitted students post the database count.
I would assume that it is higher than 438 but please let us know.

Thanks!

I am in the same boat as well. for those who have recieved the email about Kroll being complete, does the message on the check your status page change , once you get past the Kroll verification?

I have recieved the reciept of my tution payment , which indicates the core group I am in ( blue) and schedule of the classes. So I am hoping that serves as another 'green light'?

Looks like we will see either mass admits or mass rejects today. What is the cut-off date? I am assuming next week at the latest.

As I mentioned earlier, I received my official notification from NYU last night. I checked the status page and that is not updated. It still says I should wait five days to initiate the verification process.

So it looks like the only notification will come from the NYU adcom via email.

This Kroll outfit is truly a piece of work. They've had my information for 5 weeks. Today I get two seperate e-mails from two different Kroll employees asking me for contact information for one of my last jobs (one each). This is information I already supplied to them with the initial submission (and, of course, PAYMENT for services). To top it off, they act like it's a RUSH to get this information, stating "if we don't hear back from your employer by Monday we will need you to submit W-2 forms" etc. Anyway, what did I even pay them for if they aren't savvy enough to navigate my employers phone trees to get the information they need? Why don't they just ask for your W-2's up front and cut out all the rest of this work?!?

I'm on a business trip now, and will be on one next week, as well, making this information inconvenient to provide. If this had been dealt with a month ago, when I submitted the paperwork, maybe it wouldn't be such a rush this week?!? Not only that, why are there TWO different Kroll employees working on my case - one for each employer? Doesn't seem to be very efficient.

I'd rather pay CFACharterholder $100 - he would have been done with all the verification weeks ago...
