Thanks Scorpioguy,

I'm sure its very late now to re-appear for GMAT as I just appeared on 9th September.
I shall work on putting on whatever extra curricular activities I have involved in.Even I'm sure its worth mentioning the communities I have been associated with.

Thanks again,

Umesh Satija

I would suggest to improve on the GMAT and include any extra curricular activities that you pursue. Your work experience would stand out among the rest as most people from India would be from an IT background.

You can submit your app by 09/15 to meet the deadline. If you decide to retake the GMAT you just need to mention the same in essay 4.

I submitted my apps on 17 July. Followed up with an question on recommendations on July 18. The receipt notification came on July 19.

By the way - I just checked my email and saw that NYU has sent the password to the app status website.

So I guess the app review has started. Good luck to all and hope to meet you in class :)

I just listened to a podcast online regarding essay 2. This is what they said.

"You should tell us why stern is the right fit for you. This is a great place for you to demonstrate your knowledge and passion for stern."

From the explanation of essay 2 in the application process i am feeling some discrepancy.

Fit with Stern: (250 word maximum, double-spaced, 12 point font)

(a) Why have you chosen to pursue your MBA on a part-time basis?
(b) Please explain your preferences among the options you selected earlier
(Washington Square - Weeknights, Washington Square - Weekends,
Westchester - Weeknights)?

how do you guys interpret this?

Even I have the same doubt- Any suggestion/feedback from anybody around?

I did interpret the same (the other way round).
How about others who have already submitted their applications?

The podcast refers to the full time application question number 2 not the full time- don't worry about.

Guys I'm just wondering if anybody has got thru with a score of 610 yet?

I can go for any of the 3 campuses but I just need NYU education/degree.I come from a very different industry, also got very good recommendations-Even from my CEO.

Scorpionguy suggested me to improve my GMAT score (which I can't do now) and put some extra curricular activities (which I already put in).

What else do you think I can do to get in here.I don't know any alumnus so can't put any name there.I'm going tomorrow to the MBA fair and planning to meet up with the staff there. And trust me I don't want to leave it to destiny.I left my job and joined this company with a much lower salary just for the reason of pursuing my MBA at NYU, but unfortunately could not get a better score. 610 (47 Quant/27 Verbal), 4.5 AWA. 7 years experience in Radio Frequency Engineering.Member of PMI.Worked in India, Saudi Arabia and United States with major telecommunication companies like, Lucent,Motorola,Ericsson, AT&T -just to name a few.

What feedback do you guys have for me- just for a "feel good factor" before we all wait for the "main" feedback from NYU?

Thanks,

I totally agree with you.And anyway even if I get lesser than what I have got ,they would still consider the best score so there is no harm in appearing again. "Never say Die"

I 've submitted the essay mentioning that I woud re-appear by end of October or before -depending on availability. Thanks for your genuine feedback.

Good Luck to all of you!
Umesh,
Score is a big factor for Male, Indian IT applicant. Although you are not directly from IT but more or less technology background. This puts you on a difficult roadmap. I would suggest you to prepare for a month and get a score of at least 650. You can easily score 3 more in Quant (50) and 3 more in Verbal (30) and your score will be then 660. A Month is good enough to do this. They are going to keep you on Waitlist in Nov. and you will hear final decision in Dec. So, if you retake the GMAT in Oct end and send them the new score, you will be in great shape. Good luck!!
Hey Guys -

Finally submitted my NYU application earlier this week. I applied for the part-time program for Spring 2008. Already received my application receipt from NYU.

Anyone do anything really creative for Essay #3?

By the way, my program preference were: Langone Weeknights, Weekends and Westchester.

Amit
