Hi sanyasanha

There is a very well anticipated pattern among the Quant questions and DI questions as well. You just have to pay attention and get good insight on teh strategy.

But before I say more, I would say that don't distrust your capability just because your first mock score is 615.

Usually people don't score well in their first mock. But if you have prepared well and have covered what's needed to prepare for GMAT then second Mock might give you a smile on your face.

Also, don't pay attention to percentile because understandign that won't help you in any way. If you are just curious then it's alright to know about it. Percentile just tells you your performancein comparison to that of other test takes from the world in last two years.

You target of 655 will be achieved if you get Q-85 V-83 DI-81 so work for it. you are too close. Let me know if you need some help! :)

Hi Everyone,

I gave Official practice test 1 today, after 2 months of practice. I scored a 615 (Q79, V83, DI 80).

My target score is 655/665 or more

I don't know how to proceed. I kinda feel stuck especially with Quant. I have recognized clear gaps in CR, RC and DI. There are specific types of question types that I need to practice more but for Quant, there is no specific pattern. I don't know how to study further or what to improve:(

I also don't understand the scoring pattern. In Quant, the score is 79, but the percentile is 59th. How does this work? I also got the least number of questions wrong in Quant. In DI and Verbal, I got 8 questions wrong each, while in quant it's 6.

Can someone help me understand this better?

I hope I am able to stretch my score to my desired score in a month's time:(

Please help with your expert opinions: GMATNinja, bb and others

It's known that the algorithm takes into account the difficulty of the questions you got wrong. Just to contribute a data point here since I also got 615 today on official practice test.
DI: 80, with 5 questions wrong
Verbal: 81, with 11 questions wrong
Percentile: it would make sense if you look at the distribution of the sectional scores.

Hi sanyasanha,

I see your question about scoring was answered, so I want to give some advice on how to move forward with your prep. A great way to improve your skills is with topical practice.

For example, let’s say you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, it's crucial to delve into the questions you answered incorrectly.

For instance, if you stumbled on a remainder question, take a moment to reflect. Was it a careless error? Did you fail to apply the remainder formula correctly? Was there a concept in the question that eluded you? This analysis is key to your learning process.

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Good luck!
