Re: On the number line above, what number corresponds to a point that is 2 [#permalink]
Distance = 40- 30 = 10
then 2/5th of 30 = 12

12 is the distance from number line = 10+12 =22

Solution

• On the number line, distance between 10 and 40 \(= |40 – 10| = 30\)
• Now, \(\frac{2}{5}\)th of the distance between 10 and 40 \(= \frac{2}{5} * 30 = 2*6 = 12\)
Thus, the correct answer is Option C.

Re: On the number line above, what number corresponds to a point that is 2 [#permalink]
First, let's find out the distance between 40 and 10

40-10 = 30

Now, we need to find 2/5th of this distance
ie, 2/5 * 30 = 12

Now we got the distance.

In order to find the value on the number line, we have to add this value to 10

ie, 10+12 = 22
