On Tuesday, three boys collected an average (arithmetic mean) of 20 bottles each . On each of the 3 following days the group collected twice as many bottles as they had on the previous day. How many bottles did the boys collect during the four days?

A. 120
B. 240
C. 300
D. 600
E. 900

On Tuesday the group of 3 boys collected an average of 20. Thus, the total bottles collected on Tuesday = 3*20 = 60

The next 3 following days, the amount of bottle collected = 2* collected the previous day.

Tuesday = 60
Wednesday = 2*60 = 120
Thursday = 2*120 = 240
Friday = 2*240 = 480

Total = 60+120+240+480=900

option E

Tuesday the collected 20*3=60 bottles
next day then 2(60) [ each collected twice of last day , so if it was x,y,z on day 1 then it is 2x,2y and 2z next day. ]
so in this way 3rd day is 240 and 4th day is 480

So total is 60+120+240+480=900 (option E)

on the tuesday, A+B+C = 60.
every next day they collected double.
Wednesday => 60*2 =120
Thursday => 120*2 =240
Friday => 240*2 =480.

60+ 120 + 240 + 480 =900
