Here is the master thread for the ‘one question a day’ project in relation to Sentence Correction. The questions will appear five days in a row followed by another five days of CR posted in a similar master thread in the SC sub forum

Finally, we will have one passage for five days filled with five individual questions each day. This cycle will keep rotating until we call it enough is enough.

Here we go on the 24th day of February 2014

Though the state of affairs seems dark in the background of the fierce conflict between the racial terrorists and the state terrorists, the solace is provided by the remarkable factor that these very powers which have spent incalculable resources and energy for the purpose of revenge and retribution find themselves destroyed at the end.

A. Though the state of affairs seems dark in the background of the fierce conflict between the racial terrorists and the state terrorists, the solace is provided by the remarkable factor that these very powers which have spent incalculable resources and energy for the purpose of revenge and retribution find themselves destroyed at the end.

B Although the state of affairs seeming dark in the background of the fierce conflict between the racial terrorists and the state terrorists, the solace is provided by the remarkable factor that these very powers which have spent incalculable resources and energy for the purpose of revenge and retribution destroy each other at the end

C.Though the racial terrorists and the state terrorists have turned the state of affairs dark in the background of their fierce conflict, the solace is provided by the remarkable factor that the very powers which have spent incalculable resources and energy for the purpose of revenge and retribution find themselves destroyed at the end

D.Though the solace is provided by the remarkable factor that the very powers which have spent incalculable resources and energy for the purpose of revenge and retribution find themselves destroyed at the end,
the racial terrorists and the state terrorists have turned the state of affairs dark in the background of their fierce conflict

E. Though the state of affairs have been turned dark in the background of the fierce conflict by the racial terrorists and the state terrorists, these very powers, which
have spent incalculable resources and energy for the purpose of revenge and retribution provide solace by finding themselves destroyed at the end.

OA: A
OE:
A: Correct choice
B: Seeming dark is wrong; a subordinate conjunction requires a full working verb in formal writing. Secondly destroy each other is shift of meaning from the original.
C: it is not the racial terrorists and state terrorists have deliberately turned the affairs dark; It happened by itself
D: same as C
E: Meaning is totally changed[

Here correct choice is A.

B) seeming dark -- wrong

C) Though the racial terrorists and the state terrorists have turned the state of affairs dark-- It seems like racial terrorists and the state terrorists have made state dark -- wrong

d) In choice D , structure is wrong . X should follow Y, but instead Y follows X.
x= state of affairs seems dark in the background of the fierce conflict between the racial terrorists and the state terrorists
Y= the solace is provided by the remarkable factor that the very powers which have spent incalculable resources and energy for the purpose of revenge and retribution find themselves destroyed at the end. Hence wrong.

E) Have been -- it indicates as if issue is running in present. -- wrong.

Press Kudos, if this helps :)
