Hi today I would like to share my experience with the choice of the order of sections in GMAT
Initially as many I went ahead with the default order Quant, Verbal and DI while attempting questions.
I chose to explore different order to check the efficacy of solving quesitons
With the default order, attempting quant at start felt like a warm up. Though in some occasions initial set of quant might be hard, many times it was medium/ easy which gave a good positive start and confidence. With that traction I could build a pace, brain gets tuned and as tougher questions come the brain is already tweaked to solve these questions.
Then moving on to verbal changes the pitch, totally different questions and solution. So it gives break to analytical thinking. As I finish the verbal section mind is exhaused so I take an optional break and then switching back on with DI, solving mostly analytical and few verbal based questions. I could finish in time.
This is a better pattern I liked
Then I also tried Q, DI, V. This also worked for me. Same advantage as above starting with quant. When moving secondly with DI same analytical thinking is required. I feel it as an extended quant section and finish it . Take an optional break and start with Verbal - completely different. I felt this also as a better pattern
The third starting with DI was one of worst experience. I scored bad. Attempting descriptive DI section without warm up felt lifting 30 kgs without a push up. After a poor struggle moving to Verbal was adding fuel to a fire. and then quant already the battle is lost!
This was a worst pattern for me.
This is my expo with orders. May be these might be different for others. Open to suggestions!
