Guys,

I had my interview on April 11. My interviewer was Marcel Kallis, from ESMT's career services. The interview lasted for just over 42 minutes and I found Marcel direct in his communication, but at times interrupting. The deal-breaker for me was when I was told that chances of me landing a job in Germany without being absolutely fluent in German are virtually non-existent. More so, because I am actually not looking to work in the energy sector and the Berlin start-up scene.

The reason I even applied was because I was given an entirely different picture by a representative of another German school which is also part of the MBA Alliance Germany. Given that, I appreciate Marcel's honesty and forthrightness and it enhances ESMT's reputation in my view. He also told me that this year there has been unprecedented number of applications from Indian candidates.

My advice to you would be threefold:
1. If you want to work in Germany post-MBA and you are not fluent in German already, think about how will it happen. Not just for the interview, but for achieving what you want. Marcel clearly told me that 15 months will not be enough to be fluent in German.
2. Talk to a current student or alumnus from ESMT before the interview. Preferably an Indian, if you are an Indian.
3. Be prepared for interruptions and very direct line of questioning. It is a German school you are applying to. ;-)

Wish you guys the best.

Hi Mankutimma,
Please can you share your interview experience with ESMT.
What was asked and how long it went?

Another question: You seems to have received confirmation from various institutes. This is very impressive. Have u selected which institute to go with ?

Had my interview with Stephanie Kluth in June. It was standard MBA interview, though a really short one. 15-20 min only.
I was asked the following questions
- Walk me through your resume.
- Why MBA? Why ESMT?
- I mentioned I had spoken to a few alumni. So she asked, what was the biggest advantage and biggest disadvantage of ESMT according to the alumini.
That's all. She did say she was impressed with my professional experience but didn't ask anything further. I was pretty surprised with the short duration. What can you say, Germans are pretty blunt.

And regarding other admits, I have declined them. I have made up my mind to join the ESMT program.
