Hi Akshaykokanda

Your GRE score at 325 seems to be quite decent. Academics and ECA seem quite good too. Please provide some more details on your work experience (KRAs) and achievements to enable an evaluation on that front as well. Overall, you seem to be a fit with what ISB looks for.

Hi Akshaykokanda,

Your profile seems good on the surface. Your GRE score is quite decent. Talking about your ECs, you can speak about your experiences regarding Red Cross Social Services. Besides, you must also talk about any hobby you're pursuing to bring diversity to your profile. The most important part of your candidacy is presenting how you are different from the herd to deserve that seat and how you can contribute to the community that others can not. And this is why ECs are important to present because they tell readers, listeners unique traits of yours that one does not find in your work. So, when you pick ECs to present in your applications, pick smartly. Your achievements are good and should be shown in a way that will reflect your leadership, growth and personal attributes.

It is very difficult for me to further evaluate your profile, as you have not included any specifics about your work experience, you have a good 6 years of work experience. I would like to know the roles and responsibilities you have undertaken, you’ll need to showcase your career progression in a stark way as it will provide the image of a high performing individual.

If you like we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and give you a more realistic assessment. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Hey Akshaykokanda,

Your profile seems to be pretty well-groomed at the first glance as it stands out with various achievements under your belt. Academically, your postgraduate CGPA of 7.02 is good enough for you to target the ISB PGP program as the adcoms base their majority judgement on the work experience of MBA applicants.

Moving forward, your GMAT score is on the lower end, and for most of the management courses, it is one of the referencing points. However since GRE is equally considered by top b-schools, a score of 325 is competitive enough and would allow you to target ISB comfortably. I would only recommend a retake if you can boost your score by at least 10 points.
As far as your work experience goes, you definitely have the upper hand since you have 6 years of work experience as Manager of a Focus 4D Career Education company, as it will add a unique streak to your profile. Moreover, to portray a differentiated profile, you could talk about the kind of projects you undertook, the skills you honed, and the type of knowledge you could gain throughout your work experience. Along with this, you can also mention why you chose the underlying company to justify the lack of big brand names under your profile. This aspect of your profile is significant for the simple reason that you’ll be competing with applicants who have worked or interned in the big four companies like KPMG, EY, DELOITTE, and PWC.

Coming to your extracurriculars, you have a lot of experience in leadership, organizing and social volunteering roles which are again great value additions as it showcases your ability to spearhead initiatives, impact others, and empathise with other people. Your active participation in debates and quizzes further vouches for your oratory and public speaking skills, which again boosts your profile. You can add more value to your profile by digging deeper into the various endeavours you undertook and kitting down a well-crafted story about how you went above and beyond to excel in the same. As B-schools are looking for applicants that are future leaders and such experiences and qualities most certainly vouch for your abilities and strengthen your application.

Having said that, to increase your chances of getting admitted to ISB, you would need to ensure that you have a very strong application consisting of well-drafted Essays, LORs, and a resume to back your profile. As a matter of fact, your application aids in setting you apart from the other applicants and has a 30% impact on your acceptance chances. You thus need to showcase your journey, what makes you different from your peers, and how you will be a great value addition to the school.

Thus, if you are looking to target the top B-schools and want to craft a winning application that would increase your chances by at least 3 times, you can check our comprehensive all-in-one solution that has helped thousands of applicants get into their dream schools worldwide.
