Name/username: Shaishav Agrawal
Age : 25
Country/Location : India
Under-Graduate School : Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University
Under-Graduate GPA: 3.0
GMAT/GRE Test scores: GMAT - 720
Total Work Experience : 5 years
Pre-MBA Industry : FMCG
Target industry post-MBA: Consulting
Brief about Work Experience : Worked with the branding team at a global FMCG player and helped plan campaigns to improve market share
What is your relation to the Recommenders?(Manager. client etc): Manager
Volunteering/Extra-curriculars: Enactus, Volunteering with non-profits
International Experience : None
Scholarship Given? : None
The motivation for MBA and why Now brief? : Take on greater responsibilities. Switch to consulting to gain perspective on multiple industries. Why Now - Felt like i've had enough experience in the marketing function, wanted to try bigger slightly different challenges. COVID made it an ideal time to apply since there will be fundamental shift in market/consumer behavior and hence the best time to re-learn
Short-Term Goal : Crack consulting
Long-Term Goal : Start a social consulting cum impact assessment fund for organizations working in 3rd world countries
Did you use the help of an MBA Consultant? : No (Reached out to current and former students)
Any comments, feelings, advice to share?: Do not wait for the last minute for GMAT/GRE, give enough time to schedule a re-take if necessary because this is pivotal. Make sure your short and long term goals are aligned and you have a very clear idea of how ISB helps you with both (my interview was centered around this). Highlight, as much as possible, what makes you different i.e. what unique perspective do you bring to the class (I mentioned my experience of working with startups early in my career and then moving to a large MNC and how organizational structure and behavior can impact decision making)

Hope this helps! Always happy to connect for help

Volunteering/Extra-curriculars: Avid classical dancer
International Experience : None
Scholarship Given? : No
The motivation for MBA and why Now brief? : I am very interested in developing a better understanding of business which would require having sound knowledge of market, strategy and finance. Also, I think this is the right time to give a boost to my career where I have some knowledge of how an industry functions and at the same time can mould myself with the newly acquired technicalities of business.
Short-Term goal: Consulting
Did you use the help of an MBA Consultant? : No
Any comments, feelings, advice to share?: Trust your gut feeling when applying for the school. You might feel anxious when you see a pool of extremely talented and bright candidates competing with you, but try and assess yourself in your own standards. Stay confident.

Any comments, feelings, advice to share?: Give your GMAT well in advance, it gives you the required time to retake the exam incase things go south. Apply as early as possible, preferably in round 1. I didnt give any mock interviews or such, but I did reach out to a number of alumni to understand their experiences and prepped accordingly. Try to be very clear about why do you want to do an MBA and why now. I think this clarity helped me greatly in my interview along with helping in my career planning. And be very honest.

Any comments, feelings, advice to share?: Application process was an eye-opener about yourself. Articulating who you truly are, and what have you achieved is something most of us don't notice. Advice, on the day of GMAT, don't panic and try to make all answers correct.

Total Work Experience: 52 months (till date)
Pre-MBA Industry: Technology (SaaS)
Target industry post-MBA: Technology (B2C)
Brief about Work Experience: Last 3 years at a funded SaaS startup, leading the customer success team. Short stints at an ed-tech startup and startup ecosystem platform prior to that.

Volunteering/Extra-curriculars: None post undergrad. Earlier, headed the entrepreneurship cell and cultural festival at college.
International Experience: Working day in and day out with international customers, in the current role. Have made a couple trips to Europe.

The motivation for MBA and why now brief?: Want to move into a product management role at a larger tech company. Felt that I needed to understand how businesses work in a broader and deeper sense (strategy, finance, etc) in order to do this effectively. Also, an MBA is a more efficient route to product management for me.
Short-Term Goal: Product Management at a large B2C tech company.
Long-Term Goal: Senior leadership in tech industry.
Link to your interview debrief: https://gmatclub.com/forum/isb-204/inte ... brief-1521
Did you use the help of an MBA Consultant?: Worked with MBA Crystal Ball for essays and application. Interview prep with Hash MBA (Mr. Llewellyn Desouza). Also did a mock interview with Preppie.
Any comments, feelings, advice to share?: The entire process is a journey of self-discovery and reflection. Make the most if it! It is natural to be anxious and stressed about the outcome, but put your best foot forward and trust the school and the system to do their bit :) Personally I would recommend working with someone experienced for your application/interview prep, they helped me a lot to crystallise my story and my messaging. Make sure your short-term goal ties in logically with your journey till now and the MBA. GMAT was not a stress point for me, I had given it an year ago in anticipation of applying this year, so it helped to have it out of the way while working on the application. Good luck to everyone who are waiting for their results!
