I think that the column, number of 2 point field goals made, includes number of field goals and each field goal is worth two points.

Under column 2-point field goals , number of goals are given and each goal carry 2 points. That's why we multiplied it by 2, isn't it?
So total points from 2 -point field goals= 2696*2= ~72% of 8245.

Give kudos if you like m explanation.

1. Extract the Relevant Data

2. The GMAT Strategy: Simplify the Numbers
We need the percent of points that came from 2-point goals. First, calculate the total points from these goals:
  • 2 * 2,986 is approximately 2 * 3,000 = 6,000 points
Now, we need the percentage:
  • Percentage = 6,000 / 8,245
3. Estimate the Ratio
Round the total points to a cleaner number for comparison:
  • Total is approximately 8,250
  • Target is approximately 6,000
Mental Math Breakdown:
  • What is 75% of 8,000? It is 6,000.
  • Since our denominator (8,245) is slightly larger than 8,000, the actual percentage will be slightly less than 75%.
4. Evaluate the Options

  • B) 36.2 (Too low)
  • C) 56.6 (Too low)
  • D) 72.4 (Very close to our 75% estimate)
