Last Saturday a certain circus charged $6 per adult ticket and $3 per child ticket. Was the circus' revenue from adult and child tickets sold last Saturday greater than $2,500 ?
(1) The number of adult tickets sold last Saturday was greater than 1/3 of the number of child tickets sold last Saturday.
(2) The total number of adult and child tickets sold last Saturday was greater than 850.
(A) Statement 1 alone is sufficient, but statement 2 alone is not.
(B) Statement 2 alone is sufficient, but statement 1 alone is not.
(C) Both statements together are sufficient, but neither alone is sufficient.

Let \(a\) be the # of Adult tickets and let \(c\) be the # of child tickets.
We need to find whether \(6a+3c > 2500\)
(1) The number of adult tickets sold last Saturday was greater than of the number of child tickets sold last Saturday.
Clearly insuff. but just to illustrate:
If \(a =2\) and \(c=1\), we have a NO
If \(a=1000\) and \(c=1,\) we have a YES
INSUFF.
(2) The total number of adult and child tickets sold last Saturday was greater than 850.
\(a+c>850\)
Let's suppose all were child tickets then revenue would be \(850 *3 = 2550\)
Hence even considering the lesser of the two, we are getting revenues more than \(2500.\)
Hence even if we have one adult ticket and rest child tickets or any other combination of adult and child tickets, the revenue would still be more than \(2500.\)
SUFF.

Question: Is 6A + 3C > 2500?
Statement 1: A > (1/3)*C
But we don't have any idea about the number of tickets sold which is needed to find the exact amount of money spent hence
NOT SUFFICIENT
Statement 2: A + C > 850
if A = 850, Money spent = 5100 which is > 2500
if C = 850, Money spent = 2550 which is > 2500
In every case the money spent is greater than $2500 hence
SUFFICIENT
Answer: Option B
