Hi kreel11,

When students struggle with DI questions, the first thing I always ask is whether they have fully completed their quant and verbal prep. Not doing so can really affect how well you handle DI questions, as many of those questions involve quantitative and verbal concepts. So, would you say you are in that boat?

In addition, one way to improve each individual DI question type is to engage in topical practice. Doing so lets you pinpoint your weak areas in JUST ONE question type. For example, when practicing TPA questions, perhaps you see a pattern that you struggle with 3-part ratios or weighted averages. If you can find those micro weaknesses, you can fix them in real-time and thus improve your accuracy in DI questions..

Lastly, when working on DI questions, for the time being, make sure to practice them untimed so you can focus on JUST accuracy. As you become more familiar with these question types and get more accurate, better timing will follow.

Hi MartyMurray

For verbal mostly in the OG i did timed sets since couple of months and have 85% CR and 83% RC with time exceeding at times by few minutes. Usually did sets of 10 CR and 2 RCs. Nowdays doing 3 RCs (based on gmatfocus format) sets. in DI havent done anythig official except for DS and in the 8 odd practice quizzes for DI from forum quiz where i did one topic at a time taking an untimed quiz, usually taking 5 questions of it (TPA, GRAPHS/TABLES, and at times MSR) got an average of 74%. recently on those 8 quizzes. But to be honest in DI have been performing poorly (around 75) in all mocks that were not even from gmatclub. Major time management issues and mostly have not been able to do MSR due to time constraint or challenge. Probably need a sound strategy for managing time for DI (overall as well) but yeah need topical improvement also.
If 85% in CR and 83% in RC include answering easy questions, to achieve your target score, you need to achieve higher accuracy in Verbal practice, such as 90%+ of medium questions correct and 80%+ of hard questions correct.

Regarding DI, it sounds as if you need much more practice. To practice DI, you can use official questions from various sources, such as the Official Guide and the legacy GMAT Prep tests (NOT Focus). Also, you could sign up for the TTP trial and practice for five days using TTP examples and chapter test questions.

When practicing DI, you can do the questions untimed, but learn to find efficient, organized ways to use the information associated with a DI question so that you can answer the questions relatively quickly.
