Could you help me out and evaluate my profile for applying Round 2 this Fall (January 2017)? Thanks!!
Work Experience:
- 3 years of work experience in March 2017
- Work for a healthcare consulting firm on hospital system financial improvement
- Have worked on 3 separate consulting projects thus far
- Promoted from Analyst to Associate after 2 years 4 months (promotion cycle is 6 months and this is right in line with solid performance)
- Received Spot Bonus for extraordinary work in November 2015 and April 2016 from 2 separate managers
- Direct supervising experience
Education:
- B.S. in Mathematics/Economics from UCLA; GPA = 3.2
GMAT:
-720 (Q49, V38), IR 6, AWA 6.0
Extra-curriculars:
- Peer mentor and career mentor for underprivileged students in my area in CA (starting Jan 2016)
- Online peer mentor for undergrad students searching for career advise and direction (starting July 2016)
- Social Coordinator at Consulting Firm to organize networking events with $4,500 budget (starting Jan 2016)
Why MBA?
To develop a better strategic understanding in business and learn about product development, which I will use in combination with my strong skill-set of project management, analytical driven decision making, and communication skills to pivot into a product management role at a Health and Wellness startup. In my essays, I will talk about my enjoyment of fitness and my goals to impact people positively, a change from a financial improvement focus.
Recommendations
1. Highlight my leadership in technical project management internally with my team and externally with the client, as well as ability to work with a team. Development opportunity in thinking high-level strategy on project
2. Highlight managing experience I had with a difficult supervising situation and growth as a leader, as well as strong work ethic. Mention development of as a supervisor/coach

Hey dude, so overall you profile seems quite strong. Your school list is well chosen and well balanced, and with a strong application, you should see results. The one challenge for the upper level of schools you are applying to being your GPA. But I think with a good consulting job + your performance + GPA + UCLA, you can balance things out. Plus the GPA is not that low that it would make an application imaginable...
What can you do to give an extra edge? Well at this point I feel like the experience you have is the experience you have. What can you actually add now? At this point its just about finding the right story and the right framing for your application. And applying R1 with extra work wouldnt really help thaaaat much, so honestly if you are ready now, you are ready now.
