Hi there,
Thanks for posting. Good for you for thinking a bit ahead and having the GMAT under your belt and be focusing on school research at this point in the year. It's tough to assess in too much detail without getting to know you and your profile and accomplishments and stories more, but you have some solid 'ingredients' so to speak in terms of professional experiences, goals you've been thinking about, GMAT score, and your EC's sound quite strong. Your GMAT quant score is a bit lacking especially for those top 5/top 10 schools you mention, and it's possible they could wonder about how well you'd handle the quantitative aspects of the program as a prior English major etc as well, so you may want to make a case in some way that you know you CAN handle the quant aspects. Overall I'd say your 'dream' schools are reasonable reach options, no guarantees just because they are so selective and there are tons of strong applicants, potentially with higher GPAs from even more selective u-grad schools and more quant skills demonstrated... HBS in particular being the biggest reach. Under your 2nd-tier list, I'd say Georgetown, maybe Johnson & Emory are close to 'safety' options for you (if you still put together strong applications of course); the rest are just more competitive/on-target. Note that it's not much easier to get into NYU than Columbia, especially given it's class size.
There are certainly many factors to consider and you'll want to think about where you really could see yourself as you narrow down the list. For more on choosing schools, check out our free download at:
