Hello, Please guide me on whether to take gmat test or not, I came from a poor family background in India. I am currently working as a software developer with 4 years of experience, I have done graduation in 2015 with a fashion technology degree with 7 points from 10, in higher secondary I scored 57% and in my matriculation scored 60%. I am not very fluent in English speaking but can improve the same. I am very good at solving quant and reasoning questions which helped me to get a 95 percentile score in the CAT India exam but because of my poor academics, I was not able to convert to any good MBA college. Please help me if I attempt the Gmat exam, can I convert to a good MBA college, as it will be a financial decision for me?
Hi
sid2893 I have recently worked with some NIFT alums who had worked in diverse roles in corporate and are now pursuing MBA. I would be able to give you honest advice if you reach out to me and discuss your profile. You can write to me at

Sharing a few pointers-
1. Balancing a poor academic history with good GMAT/GRE scores is important when applying for MBA programs. Admissions committees may have concerns about whether you can handle the academic rigor of an MBA program, so it's important to demonstrate your abilities through standardized test scores.
2. Some schools may be understanding of struggles with the verbal section if you explain your background, but it's still important to have a strong reason for not performing well in undergrad. Admissions committees will be looking for a clear and compelling explanation for any weaknesses in your academic record.
3. There are several full-time MBA programs in India that are a good fit for experienced professionals like you despite your academic challenges. Programs such as SPJain and XLRI PGDM have a good recruitment record and can be considered with a strong application and sharp interview preparation.
