Profile Evaluation (Fall 2015)

Question

Hello!

I'd really appreciate my profile evaluation here.

GMAT - 750
UG - 8.3/10 from BITS-Pilani (B.E.)
X and XII - 86% and 89%

I currently have 2 years of work experience (will be 3 by Fall 2015 which is when I plan to enroll) at Samsung R&D (product-based).

1) My role and responsibilities at my job include conceptualizations and development of high quality consumer electronics software.
2) My projects, which I've worked on under strict commercialization deadlines, have been live in the market since the last year.
3) During the past 2 years at my job, I've been handled project process management and standardization responsibilities to carry out individually as a single point of contact.
4) I have also been given complete ownership of certain development tasks and have been a temporary project lead (despite being the youngest team member) when the lead was on leaves. This was based on my people management skills and ability to effectively communicate with other project stakeholders
5) I have had 2 promotions in 2 years and have been appreciated by senior organization members for my overall contribution

Extra-curriculars:
1) I have been a Manager and Core Member of the Sponsorship and Marketing Dept. at my UG Univ. (experience rich)
2) I have been a Manager at The Academic Counseling Cell at my UG Univ. (experience rich)
3) Organized a "Idea and innovation" fair at my job.

Please let me know where my strengths and weaknesses lie and how I can go about improving them.

Hello there dude!
Well you got some good stuff here. You certainly have the GMAT (yes!) and the grades. And work for a great firm. your very quick promotions will be very very helpful in selling your profile.

How are your extra currics and your volunteer work?

The only real negative is that you have only two years of experience from an industry that doesn't traditionally directly send people to Bschool (consulting, finance). so you may want to consider if it is not a wise idea to wait a year (Depends on lots of stuff, some of them personal, and all of them specific to you).

But let's say things this way, let's assume your volunteer work and extra currrics are good, I think if you keep things up, Top 20 schools will be in range.

Hey there! @JonAdmissionado

I really appreciate your help!

My extra-curriculars are pretty decent. But unfortunately, I don't have much volunteer work. So I guess this will hurt me. Also, I understand that my work experience and industry background will haunt me during results too. This is precisely the reason why I'm aiming a little low than what I would have otherwise.

Can you please suggest stuff I may do to improve my profile per say? Also, what do you reckon my chances will be at the universities I mentioned above?

Hello there again,

So the first thing again to think about is whether its not worth it to wait a wee bit. One more year + volunteer work could make a difference for you.

Otherwise, I think from your list, Sloan, Booth and LBS will be stretches. Kellogg and INSEAD and ISB competitive, and the others, competitive + (I'm not sure that they are actually safe schools for you, but you should have a good shot there with a great application.

It's pretty rough as far as evaluations go, cause I could use a little more info about you. But I do hope it is helpful.

Hello!

Actually due to personal reasons, it is an absolute must that I go by Fall 2015. So waiting, for me, is not a feasible option.
