Hi ZS1997
Priyanka here from ARINGO. To answer your questions,

1. Aim for a 695+ score, anything above that will be strengthening your profile further.

2. Yes, GMAT is a key factor in merit-based aid. Your work experience and career progression are positives. The GPA might be a hurdle at top schools, making a strong GMAT crucial.

You should also think about crafting strong essays that highlight your unique experiences and goals along with emphasizing your international background.

Hi.
I'm 27 yo from Indonesia, with 5 yr working in FMCG, now as production manager. I have 3,38 gpa and 2x job promotions. i will take gmat test in june 5th, wish me luck.
I've done several mock test. 695 in gmatclub, 4x official mock test (the lowest 655 and the highest is 695), and 7x in expertglobal (range 625-665). I have 10 mock test left (2 official mock + 8 expertglobal). I'm the type of test takers who aim to get 88-90 in Q, 84-88 in DI, and 79-82 in V (I know, my verbal is bad). I learnt gmat using offical guide and also question bank in gmatclub.

So far, i think the Q & DI in expert global is harder than offical mock test.
After MBA, i want to work in FMCG (Higher/more strategic roles), Corporate or Consulting; in either US or Indonesia. My dream Campuss is MIT Sloan, but i dont know whether my subpar gpa (3,38) will be an issue. my other choice will be Haas and Ross. i aim to apply in R1 2026 (September 2025)

my question is..
1. What Gmat score should i aim?
2. To get scholarship from campuss, is it true that higher gmat score will give more chance of scholarship?

thank you

The LOWER GPA can be offset with a high GMAT in your case at least. It's not so low as to completely hurt your chances but not so high that it will help.

Might want to focus on the GMAT esp if MIT is your first choice

Hi ZS1997

The scholarship avenues depend primarily on 3 factors
1. Your career growth progression and future potential
2. Your need for financial aid
3. Your GMAT score/ academic strength

If you are seriously targeting the top US B schools, crossing the 695 thresholds will put you on a solid footing. I do want to add one thing here: If you have your entire background in production, you need to make sure you show a solid understanding of what kind of post MBA opportunities would align well with your past trajectory and why. Admissions officers have a weakness for applicants who are, in the well-traveled term, "passionate" about pursuing their dreams. It is only human to respond to enthusiasm. Schools will use the essays to make an indirect assessment of the quality of your mind and thought process. Do you think critically about the problems in your company or industry? Can you craft a compelling case that links your past, your goals, and your respective target schools? What is your unique story and motivation, what are you trying to solve?

I work with a lot of production managers/ operations experts and this has also been my professional background so I am happy to share this writeup with you for direction

Hello ZS1997,

While no score can guarantee an interview call, a score in excess of 685/695 will give you a competitive chance. Of course, a lot will also depend on the overall strength of your application.

The top 15 schools are not known to be scholarship friendly; however, a spike in your GMAT score will definitely help your chances of admission and scholarships.

All the best!

Hi ZS1997,

You have a solid profile with 5 years of FMCG experience, two promotions, and a leadership role as Production Manager - all strong assets. Your GPA of 3.38 is slightly below average for top schools like MIT Sloan, Haas, and Ross, but not a deal-breaker, especially with strong professional achievements and a high GMAT score.
1. GMAT Target:
To stay competitive for MIT Sloan, Haas, or Ross, aim for a score of 685+
2. Scholarships:
Yes, a higher GMAT score can improve your chances for merit-based scholarships. 705+ GMAT can build your case for scholarships further. It signals academic readiness and strengthens your overall candidacy.

Highlighting your leadership, professional achievements, career goals, unique experiences, and fit with the program effectively will be crucial in crafting a compelling application. To maximize your chances, consider applying to a balanced mix of reach, target, and safety schools. Feel free to book a free call with our MBA consultants for a more detailed discussion.
