Hi,
Please help me figure out reasonable schools in that I can apply to and stand a chance to get an admit.
Profile Details:
Male, Indian, 23 yrs.
You are on the young side- so if you wait even a year or so more it may help.GMAT: 730 (Q51, V37, AWA 4, IR 8)
Education: B.Tech in chemical engineering from IIT Madras (one of the top 5 undergrad colleges in India), 7.6/10 CGPA.
Experience : Currently 2 years, 3 months of work experience (will be completing 3 by next july). I am working with a UK-based IT/financial services firm as a Software Test Engineer. Been promoted within 18 months of joining. Management skills mainly involve monitoring and providing functional training to new recruits and interns, coordinating with clients and developers, and taking ownership for product deliveries. Don't have international work experience, but I'm involved in interacting with some international clients.
Post-MBA goals: To move into product management (preferably in the tech. sector).
Co-curricular/Extra-curriculars :
1.Worked as a volunteer for an international NGO for 3 months
2.Was a part of the national cadet corps under Indian air force and received basic military training
3.Secured a gold medal in an international mathematics competition conducted by University of New South Wales across 14 countries
Location: Personally I would prefer working in UK or Europe, but I don't want to risk not finding a job because of this. (Language isn't a problem for european schools as I have enough time to learn till enrollment). Otherwise any country is fine as long as it is easy to get employed after graduation.
Can you please advise which B-schools I should target. INSEAD is my dream school. Do I have a chance with my profile? If not, please suggest other schools.
With the average work experience being 5.5 yrs at Insead, I think this is your biggest hurdle. I'd consider working an extra year and then applying there. But if you are set on applying this year then I would look to schools who need a reason to overlook your light work experience..one reason could be a higher than avg GMAT so target schools with a 700 or less average and your 730 will look good and they may be more willing to overlook the lighter work experience.PS: I am only aiming for the top 100 ranked schools.
Thanks a lot.
