Hi,

I am an Indian female targeting ISB and INSEAD.

Academic profile:
95% in 10th
92.6% in 12th
7.2 CGPA in Mechanical Engineering + Physics from Tier 1 school

Work Ex:
Have been working at a top Indian bank since July 2023 (i.e. >3 YoE at the time of application). Was recruited from the campus in the audit function for automation. In April 2025, made a move to product management internally and got promoted. Have been working as a PM ever since. Have been recognised with various performance awards thrice throughout my stint.

ECs:
2 PoRs in UG

I am aiming for a 705+ GMAT FE score.

What are my chances and how should I enhance my profile or tell my story more effectively?

Some thoughts and clarifications:

  • Is there any precedence of undergrad alum in your target programs? Also, the GPA seems a bit low. Any particular reasons e.g. was it low during certain semesters?
  • Your professional experience is interesting, considering the product switch and promotion. 3 years as of application is a bit on the lower side (especially for INSEAD), but a strong score and application can potentially help compensate. Some more details can help assess the profile better e.g. key achievements/ projects, and post-MBA career goals.
  • Any extracurriculars worth highlighting e.g. arts, sports, volunteering etc.? Also, any international exposure?

You have a genuinely strong profile. Being an Indian female in a male-dominated field like Mechanical Engineering, combined with a Tier 1 college, top bank experience, an internal promotion to PM, and multiple performance awards — that's a compelling profile. Your demographic (Indian female) is also a positive differentiator at both ISB and INSEAD, where gender diversity is actively sought.

Your 7.2 CGPA is slightly low but offset well by your strong 10th/12th scores and clear upward career trajectory. A 705+ GMAT FE will be competitive and would also help you offset the CGPA.
