Hi Jon,

Thanks for the genuine feedback! Two questions:

1) What other schools do you think I could target - with my existing profile?
2) And if I were to re-take the GMAT - what is the 'minimum' kind of score should I be looking to reach to make Kellogg/Columbia/Wharton a reality?

My post-MBA goal will be in Strategy Consulting and then moving on to Consulting or Strategy for the Retail industry? (Have done work in this field and have a passion piece here as well related to the startup)

Thanks!
AkCee

Hey AkCee,
So given your age and goals and GMAT it is becoming clearer to me that a GMAT retake is the best choice. I mean first of all it's late in the season and you would have to rush to make the applications for R2; secondly you are young, thirdly your GMAT is a touch low; finally your goals (consulting) will ALSO require you to have a better GMAT.

So given all the above, really the only thing that makes sense is for you to take it easy, study for the GMAT for a few months and aim for R1 next year. No need to rush this year with a low GMAT.

What do you think?

Best,
Jon

Hey Jon,

Thanks for your response. I dont think I mentioned my age in my comments to you. :)

I was pretty sure that 4 years was an average at top tier business schools, and while I may be 'young' (by some aspects) - I believe I'm absolutely certain I want to go for a MBA at this point.

Keeping that in mind - any suggestions for schools here?

Best,
AkCee

Hah!
Well call me Sherlock. But it's not that hard to deduce "age" from years of WE (barring strange circumstances)

If you want to apply now, you should aim at schools in the 10-25 ranking (US news) approximately. I STILL think it's better for you to aim for a 720 and go for Top 10 schools :) But that's up to you.

Best,
Jon
