Dear Crucifier,
Thanks for sharing your profile and MBA aspirations. My name is Priyanka, Client Manager at
ARINGO.
You asked a fantastic question! Both product management and consulting are the most common and top choices for post-MBA careers, and each offers exciting opportunities. Here's a breakdown to help you decide:
Product Management: This role puts you at the heart of building products users love. You'll bridge the gap between business needs and technical development, ensuring your product solves real problems and achieves market success.
- Ideal for you if: You're passionate about technology, have strong analytical skills, and enjoy bringing ideas to life.
- Think about: Do you have a specific tech area you're interested in?
Consulting: Consultants are problem-solvers for businesses across industries. You'll tackle a variety of challenges, working with diverse teams to develop strategic solutions and drive positive change.
- Ideal for you if: You enjoy intellectual challenges, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are a strong communicator.
- Think about: Are you comfortable learning about new industries quickly?
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your personal interests and goals. Reflect on what excites you and where you see yourself long-term.
Finding the Right Business School
You're right, a strong business school can make a difference! While both paths are achievable with any MBA, some schools have reputations for excellence in specific areas. BUT, as both paths are so popular, we believe any top school will serve both purposes. M7 schools are highly competitive and you do come from an overrepresented background. We suggest going for those but also a Top 15 program like Ross, Tepper, or McCombs can offer fantastic opportunities with a potentially higher chance of admission. We recommend expanding your list to include schools like Darden, Tuck, Cornell, and Duke, which all boast strong consulting and/or technology programs.
Ready to take the next step?
We'd be happy to assist you in creating stellar applications that will help you gain admission to your top choices. Feel free to reach out to

All the best.
