Hi All,
I’d appreciate if you could give me a reality check here. I’m a final year undergraduate student in a Balkan country studying Finance and I want to break into London IB. Here’s my profile:
Academics:
GPA: equivalent to first class (top 2% in class)
GMAT: 655(Q81,V82,DI84)

Passed CFA Level 1
Work experience:3 month internship (non-finance related) at a maritime and shipping company
4 month internship at a non-Big 4 Transaction Advisory department
An upcoming 3 month internship at a local IB boutique with very strong deal flow
(Maybe, I will get an extra 2 month internship at a local fund)Extracurriculars:
President of university’s finance club
I own a website where I upload articles about regional M&A transactions
Played basketball professionally for a couple of years, member of my country’s national youth teams
Is there any chance of being admitted to the following:

NickTheGreek14 . Your profile demonstrates strong academic performance, leadership, and relevant finance experience, making you a competitive candidate for MSc Finance programs. Your first-class GPA (top 2%), CFA Level 1, and leadership as the president of your university’s finance club highlight your analytical skills and initiative.
Congratulations on your upcoming IB boutique internship, it will strengthen your finance exposure and will definitely enhance your candidacy for the programs you are targeting. Your GMAT score (655) is decent, now to boost your chances the focus should be on refining your career goals
(to show why you need an MSc/MiF for IB in London?), crafting compelling essays, and networking with alumni and professionals in your target industry
(this would be important to get more insights and would help while you’re building your applications). Your extracurriculars, including professional basketball and running a finance website, add a unique dimension to your profile, showcasing discipline and thought leadership.
About your chances:
LBS MFA: Highly competitive, improving your GMAT and securing additional IB experience will strengthen your application.
HEC MIF: More flexible on GMAT but places a strong emphasis on finance experience. Your upcoming IB boutique internship will be a key differentiator, make sure to highlight it effectively.
LSE MSc Finance: Heavily quant-focused, if your undergraduate coursework lacks deep quantitative rigor, emphasize your CFA and strong GMAT Quant score.
Imperial MSc Finance: Competitive but slightly more accessible than LBS and LSE. A well-crafted application and strategic networking can give you an edge.
RSM MSc Finance & Investments: Your profile is a strong fit, making this a solid safety option.
Cambridge MPhil Finance: Highly research-driven and academic, your undergraduate research and finance website are valuable assets, but a higher GMAT score would significantly enhance your competitiveness.
Strong recommendations and a well-structured application will be crucial in showcasing your potential.
