Hi!

Can someone help decide which of the following is best suited for studying quant -
1) Magoosh Test Prep
Or, 2) Target Test Prep

Really hoping for some helpful replies! :)
I think GMAT Club Test is also good source. I used it and found helpful.

Hi Argp,

Target Test Prep would be an amazing asset for your GMAT prep. We are the top-rated quant course on GMAT Club, and students who complete the course regularly score 49+ quant scores on the GMAT.

Feel free to also read a recent debrief from a TTP student who scored Q51 on his GMAT.

Certainly, if you’d like to learn more about the TTP, feel free to reach out to me directly.

Target Test Prep all the way. It is all you need for quant. I have used both courses. Magoosh's quant does not come close to TTP.

You can PM me if you have further queries.

Best wishes!

Not able to decide between target test prep and empower gmat. Although quants is great in ttp for building a solid foundation but i am not sure about the more advanced concepts such as circular arrangement.

Hi gauravn218,

To start, you would likely receive more of a response if you started your own post-thread (instead of piggy-backing on this older one); you can also feel free to PM or email me directly if you prefer. I'll be happy to answer any questions that you might have. For example, the concept of a 'circular Permutation' is rather rare on the GMAT - you probably will not see any questions on it on Test Day - but if you do, then one of the 'keys' to solving it is to understand that 'rotating' the chairs/people/items does not actually change the arrangement, so your calculation will involve some division (re: you have to divide out the 'duplicate arrangements').

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far? What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi gauravn218,

When you choose a resource, make sure to choose one which helps you with the right aspects for your GMAT preparation. As GMAT mainly tests your application skills, the resource you choose must help you with:
  • Concepts
  • Methodology (Very important)
  • Practice questions
  • Their detailed solutions

So, you first learn the concepts of a particular topic, then learn the methodology to solve questions of that topic and only then practice questions to solidify your learning. This is how you go about your GMAT preparation. The resource you choose must make your prep a lot more structured and effective.

And one more important thing to look for in a course is the study plan. To make your prep effective, you need to be really consistent. So, a study plan will help you to be consistent. Having said that, you cannot follow a study plan which doesn't suit you. For example, a person who can dedicate just 3 hours a day cannot have the same study plan as a person who can dedicate 6 hours a day. So, the study plan has to be personalized. And not just that, it's important to have the right guidance from the mentor because students often get stuck in the middle of their prep and do not understand how to proceed further.

You can go through the article below to understand how to choose an online course

Key factors to consider while choosing an online course for GMAT

The best way to choose an online course is to check the free trials of the courses and then decide which suits you the most. Another way is by going through the verified reviews on GMATClub.

Hope it helped. If you have any queries regarding the study strategy or the resource, you can get in touch with me using the below link. I will be happy to help.
